      Advice: Flaherty had cruised through five shutout innings and thrown just 60 pitches before being suddenly pulled from the game. Manager A.J. Hinch said after the contest that the team still does not know the severity of the right-hander's injury, but the Tigers will presumably continue to run tests on his back and have an update on his status within the next couple of days.       Jack Flaherty was removed from Tuesday’s start against the Rangers due to back tightness.

      Advice: Flaherty said after the game that he thinks he’ll be able to make his next start, which was already due to come with a couple of extra days off. The 28-year-old righty has been outstanding this season in his Tigers debut and was lifted from Tuesday’s outing against the Rangers after striking out four over five scoreless frames.     • Max Fried strikes out 13 in win over Boston
      Max Fried allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: Fried also struck out 13 on the day while walking just one. He did give up a home run to Dominic Smith, but it was the only extra-base hit he allowed in the game. He got 21 whiffs on 50 swings for an impressive 42 percent whiff rate and 40 percent CSW. This Red Sox lineup is clearly short-handed due to injuries, but Fried was masterful on Tuesday and now has a 2.93 ERA on the year.       Fried (6-2) picked up the win Tuesday against Boston, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out 13.

      Advice: Fried recorded a career-high number of strikeouts Tuesday, surpassing 10 Ks for the first time since 2019. The southpaw yielded his first long ball in five starts, as lefty-hitting Dominic Smith launched a solo homer in the third inning. Fried has logged a quality start in six of his last eight outings, a stretch in which he owns a 1.57 ERA and a 55:13 K:BB over 57.1 innings.       Advice: The only earned run allowed by Rodriguez was a solo home run by Vladimir Guerrero in the fourth inning. The 24-year-old set a new season-best with 6.2 innings pitched Monday, turning in his fifth quality start of the season. Rodriguez has found his groove over his past five starts -- in that span, the right-hander owns a 2.16 ERA and 31:12 K:BB in 29.1 innings.       Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs (one earned) in 6 2/3 innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 7-2 victory over the Blue Jays on Monday.



      Advice: The win was Rodriguez’ sixth of the season. He gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out four. The Blue Jays scored on an RBI triple by Daulton Varsho and a solo home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Rodriguez has allowed more than three runs in only two of his 10 starts this season.       Singer (illness) is listed as the Royals' probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Guardians in Cleveland, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Singer looks to be in the clear on the health front after an unspecified illness left him feeling lethargic and unable to play catch Wednesday before the Royals opted to scratch him from his scheduled start Thursday against the Twins, according to ESPN.com. He apparently demonstrated enough progress over the weekend and shouldn't face any major workload restrictions when he takes the hill Wednesday.       Bello did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Bello cruised through the first four in allowing only two baserunners and finished the sixth inning in line for a quality start and the win. For the first time all year, Bello was called upon to go back out for the seventh, but after recording one out, he allowed the next two runners to reach base prior to being pulled, with both runners eventually coming around to score, adversely impacting his final line. It was only the second time this year that Bello has not been involved in the decision.
