Shea Langeliers homers, steals bag in victoryShea Langeliers homered and stole a base in the Athletics’ 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Advice: Langeliers isn’t exactly known for his speed, but he was able to procure his third steal of the season. The power is a little more readily apparent, and he hit one of three homers in the ninth inning for the A’s to give him 15 on the year and Oakland an 8-4 lead. Langeliers will never be a big helper in the average category, but there just might be enough run-production to make him a starting fantasy catcher someday. Logan O’Hoppe clobbers three-run homer in winLogan O’Hoppe hit a go-ahead three-run homer to help the Angels to a 5-2 win Friday over the Tigers.
Advice: O’Hoppe came up big — a three-run homer is always big, of course — in the seventh with a 418-foot blast to give the Angels a 5-2 lead and ultimately the victory. It also gave O’Hoppe 37 RBI and 11 homers, putting him on pace for exactly 22 roundtrippers and 74 runs driven in. Advice: The 22-year-old made his season debut after sitting out the first 80 games of the season due to a PED suspension, and he immediately provided a boost to Cincinnati's lineup. Marte batted just .151 in 12 games during his minor-league rehab assignment, but he didn't show any of that rust in his first game with the Reds. He should operate as the club's primary third baseman the rest of the way after he posted an .822 OPS over 35 games in his first taste of the majors in 2023. Headed to IL with low-grade strainThe Phillies placed Harper on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain.
Advice: Harper suffered the injury on the final play of Thursday's loss to the Marlins while running out a grounder. The good news is it's considered a low-grade strain and Harper might return as soon as July 9, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic. The Phillies could also play things cautiously and hold him out until after the All-Star break.
