    • Blasts eighth homer
Robert went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Thursday's 1-0 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Robert's eighth blast of the season came in the first inning off Chris Sale and was the only run to cross the plate on the day. It was just the fourth multi-hit game of the season for Robert, who missed a couple months earlier this season with a hip flexor strain. While Robert has struggled to the tune of a .204 average and 38 strikeouts over 114 plate appearances for the moribund White Sox, his AB/HR ratio of 12.9 is a career-best mark and portends to good things to come for the 26-year-old slugger. • Roughed up in loss
Montgomery (6-5) was saddled with the loss Thursday, allowing eight runs (four earned) on nine hits and one walk over 2.2 innings against the Twins. He struck out one.

Advice: Montgomery's line could have been a lot worse if not for a catcher's interference call and a throwing error accounting for half of the eight total runs he allowed. Among the nine hits allowed were three infield singles, no homers and two extra-base hits for Montgomery, suggesting that this performance was marred by a bit of bad luck. After struggling to 14 earned runs allowed over six innings during consecutive starts on May 31 and June 5, Montgomery had righted the ship over the next three outings prior to Thursday, allowing just five earned runs over 16.2 innings and collecting the win in each. His next start won't get any easier as he's presently slated to face the Dodgers in Los Angeles during a mid-week series. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 pm
    • Luis Robert homers to give White Sox 1-0 victory
Luis Robert went 2-for-3 with a homer in a victory over Atlanta on Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader.

Advice: Robert’s homer was not only the only run Chris Sale allowed and not only the only run for the White Sox, it was the only run scored by either team Thursday. The 26-year-old has homered eight times in his 103 at-bats while driving in 12 runs. Robert Jr. has enormous fantasy potential, but it sure would be nice to see him playing for a team that had a semblance of competence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:55 pm

    • Kyle Tucker (shin) progresses to hitting again
Kyle Tucker (shin) progressed to taking 30 swings off a batting tee earlier this week.

Advice: Tucker is close to resuming running again after landing on the injured list earlier this month with a right shin contusion. It’s a positive sign that he’s progressed to taking some swings again. There isn’t a definitive timetable for his return, but he’s definitely going to need at least a brief minor league rehab assignment before rejoining Houston’s lineup. • Jordan Montgomery roughed up in loss to Twins
Jordan Montgomery allowed eight runs — four earned — in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: Obviously the defense didn’t help Montgomery, but don’t confuse unearned runs with effectiveness. The southpaw gave up nine hits while only picking up a single strikeout with one walk as well. The 2024 season has been a massive disappointment for Montgomery and those who roster him on their fantasy rosters, and even with four unearned runs, this effort pushed his ERA to an ugly 6.03. Things don’t get any easier with the Dodgers scheduled next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:45 pm
    • Lars Nootbaar starting rehab assignment on Friday
Lars Nootbaar (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Double-A Springfield.

Advice: Nootbaar told reporters Thursday that he expects to play at least five or six rehab contests before returning to the majors. The 26-year-old corner outfielder has been on the shelf since late May recovering from a moderate oblique strain. He’s been snake-bitten by injuries this season, but remains an impactful fantasy contributor, when healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:01 pm

    • Brandon Drury out again Thursday due to illness
Brandon Drury (illness) remains out of the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Tigers.

Advice: It’s honestly a total mystery why Drury hasn’t been placed on the injured list yet since he’s set to miss his seventh consecutive contest since last Wednesday due to an ongoing battle with a respiratory virus. At this point it’s unclear when he’ll be ready to return. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:55 pm

    • Not starting Thursday
Drury (illness) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Drury will be missing his seventh consecutive game as he continues to fight off an upper-respiratory virus. There hasn't been any sort of indication from the Angels that they will place him on the injured list, so the 31-year-old should still be considered day-to-day. Luis Rengifo will start at second base Thursday with Miguel Sano at third. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:54 pm

    • Beginning assignment Friday
Nootbaar (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield on Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Nootbaar said he expects his rehab assignment to last roughly six games, which would put him in line to return to the active roster July 5 for the beginning of St. Louis' series with the Nationals. The 26-year-old outfielder has spent nearly a month on the injured list after straining his left oblique during a game in late May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:36 pm
