    • Lifts ninth homer
Gurriel went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Gurriel has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, going 10-for-37 (.270) with three homers in that span. He didn't start Friday, but he entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and delivered with his ninth long ball of the campaign. The outfielder has added 37 RBI, 29 runs scored, three stolen bases and a .239/.282/.399 slash line over 252 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 pm
    • Knocks three hits
De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's win over Cleveland.

Advice: De La Cruz put the Marlins on the board with his solo shot in the third inning and later smacked another extra-base hit. He's gone deep 11 times this season, though just two of those have come in his last 17 contests. He's slashing .252/.306/.427 with 21 extra-base hits and 28 RBI through 268 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:36 pm
    • Bryan De La Cruz homers, doubles in Marlins’ win
Bryan De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double Friday to lead the Marlins to a 3-2 win over the Guardians.

Advice: De La Cruz’s hits all left his bat at over 102 mph. He’s batting .252/.306/.427 for the season, which is certainly good enough to keep him in the Marlins lineup but isn’t great for someone who has turned out to be a pretty bad left fielder (he’s currently DHing about two-thirds of the time). One imagines he’ll be one of the many Miami players available in trade talks next month. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:13 pm
    • Joe hits seventh home run Friday
Connor Joe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: The home run was Joe’s seventh of the year. He’s up to .270 with a .792 OPS on the season. While he’s seen regular playing time this year, he’s certainly proven to be better against left-handed pitching once again. Joe has a .288/.356/.500 line in 90 plate appearances against southpaws this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:20 pm

    • Getting day off
Gurriel is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Gurriel will get a breather Friday after making five straight starts in left field. Jake McCarthy will slide to left while Randal Grichuk steps into right field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:28 pm
    • Blasts 12th home run
Morel went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Morel can be streaky with his power production, but he appears to be locked in right now, as he has two home runs across his last three games and three in his last seven contests. The surge has pushed him up to 12 long balls for the season. Morel popped 26 home runs last year, and he certainly could reach or surpass that figure in 2024 if he stays healthy. • Morel hits 12th home run in loss Thursday
Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was Morel’s 12th of the year. He’s hitting just .205 on the season, but his .212 BABIP is well below his career .287 BABIP. His 21 percent strikeout percentage is much improved from his career 29 percent strikeout percentage. Even if he goes back to striking out more, his average should improve over the rest of the season. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:54 pm

    • Christopher Morel in Thursday’s lineup vs. Reds
Christopher Morel (foot) is in the lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Reds.

Advice: It’s a positive sign that Morel is back in the lineup without missing any time after making an early exit from Wednesday’s contest against the White Sos after fouling a ball off his left foot. The 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the heart of Chicago’s lineup supplying 11 homers and six steals through 61 contests. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:54 pm

    • In Thursday's lineup
Morel (foot) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Thursday against the Reds.

Advice: Morel was taken out of Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his left foot, but he appears to be feeling well enough to return to the Cubs' lineup without a day off. The 24-year-old has posted just a .203 batting average so far this season, but he has been heating up recently, going 6-for-19 with two homers, three RBI and six runs scored across his last six games.
