    • Spencer Torkelson homers twice in Triple-A game
      Spencer Torkelson went 3-for-4 with two homers and six RBI for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

      Advice: Torkelson had some nice games immediately after being sent down by the Tigers, but he was in the midst of a two-week slump before breaking out of it last night. Overall, he’s at .274/.372/.452 with three homers in 18 games for Toledo. The Tigers might give him another opportunity soon, but there’s a good argument that Parker Meadows, who has hit .285/.378/.519 since his demotion, is more deserving at this point.     • May remain at first base
      Steer started at first base and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-5 loss to Pittsburgh.

      Advice: Steer's been locked in of late, going 11-for-35 with eight RBI over the last nine contests. He began the season as the team's primary left fielder but has played a lot at first base since Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) landed on the injured list in May. With news the Encarnacion-Strand opted for surgery that likely spells the end of his season, Steer is in line to become the club's primary first baseman. That could change when Noelvi Marte (suspension) returns. At that point, with Marte slotted in at third base, Jeimer Candelario could move from third to first. Rotowire.com Today, 5:10 am

    • Opens scoring with homer
      Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Machado has gone 14-for-38 (.368) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. The third baseman opened the scoring when he took MacKenzie Gore deep in the first inning Tuesday. Machado is still playing catch-up after a slow start to the campaign, but he's up to a .260/.314/.389 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored and five stolen bases through 76 contests.     • Struggles in short outing
      Miller did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 win against the White Sox, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over two innings. He struck out one.

      Advice: The Dodgers right-hander labored through just two innings against a feeble White Sox lineup, requiring 60 pitches with only 32 percent being in the zone. Miller has been unsteady since returning from the injured list June 19, generating a 8.64 ERA and 3:4 K:BB across 8.1 innings versus two weak opponents -- Chicago and Colorado.     • Bobby Miller allows 3 ER in short outing vs. CWS
      Bobby Miller allowed three earned runs over two innings in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

      Advice: Miller surrendered a two-run homer to Andrew Benintendi in the bottom of the first inning, and later saw an Eloy Jiménez double bring Luis Robert Jr. around to score. Miller allowed four baserunners in the frame and needed 38 pitches to get out of the inning but was pulled after the second inning and 60 pitches. It was just Miller’s fifth start of the season and his second-shortest outing on the year, as he was erratic for much of the night, with only 33 of his pitches going for strikes. The young righty has allowed three earned runs or more in three of his starts this season and saw his ERA jump to 6.75 after Tuesday’s outing.     • Pasquantino drives in lone run for Royals in loss
      Vinnie Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Marlins.

      Advice: Pasquantino singled in the first inning to score Maikel Garcia from third after Garcia walked to kick off the inning and subsequently stole two bases. It would be the only run the Royals would score on the night as they found themselves in a pitching duel between Yonny Chirinos and Seth Lugo.     • Dominates for ninth win
      Skubal (9-3) tossed seven scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Phillies. He allowed three hits and a walk while striking out seven.

      Advice: Skubal came into Tuesday in a bit of a slump, as he had allowed nine runs (eight earned) across 10.1 total innings in his previous two starts, which were both losses. The lefty got back on track in a big way, however, with a dominant performance against a tough Philadelphia lineup. It was the sixth time this season that Skubal didn't allow any runs in an outing, which is a big reason why he's sitting with a 2.32 ERA, good for fourth in the majors. Detroit's ace is having an outstanding year, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next scheduled appearance, which is tentatively set for next Tuesday against the Twins.       Edward Cabrera (shoulder) struck out seven over four hitless innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville.

      Advice: Cabrera issued two walks and threw 37 of 60 pitches for strikes in his latest rehab outings. The 26-year-old righty, who has been out since early May recovering from a right shoulder impingement, appears to be getting closer to returning to Miami’s injury-depleted starting rotation.     • Riley Greene leads Tigers to win over Phillies
      Riley Greene hit an RBI triple on Tuesday, propelling the Tigers to a 4-1 win over the Phillies.

      Advice: Greene capped off Detroit’s four-run outburst in the fourth inning with a run-scoring triple to right field off Phillies starter Ranger Suárez. It wound up being his lone hit during a low-scoring affair at pitcher-friendly Comerica Park. The 23-year-old former top prospect has managed to stay healthy and finally make the leap to upper-echelon fantasy contributor status this season with an .850 OPS to go along with 50 runs scored, 15 homers, 41 RBI and four steals through 78 contests.
