• Activated from IL ahead of start
The Mets activated Megill (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Megill is set to rejoin the Mets' rotation Monday in Cleveland after missing all of April and much of May with a right shoulder strain. He was excellent on his rehab assignment, allowing just one earned run with a 23:1 K:BB over 14 innings. Megill threw 74 pitches in his fourth and final rehab start, so he should be good for 90 or so Monday. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

  • Cleared for rehab assignment
Cavalli (elbow) has been assigned to the Florida Complex League Nationals to begin a rehab assignment, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Cavalli's 30-day rehab clock will begin once he makes his first rehab start. It will be the 25-year-old's first game action since 2022. Cavalli should eventually be an option to join the Nationals' rotation this season, but how soon that will be figures to depend largely on how he looks over the next several weeks. • Cade Cavalli begins rehab assignment
Nationals prospect RHP Cade Cavalli will begin his rehab assignment on Monday in the Florida Complex League.

Advice: Cavalli is the Nationals’ number five prospect and has been sidelined since last spring after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He was up to 98 mph with his fastball in live batting practice sessions, so now he will start what figures to be a lengthy rehab assignment. As we know, command is usually one of the last things to come back after Tommy John surgery, so while Cavalli’s velocity is nice to see, it will be more important to see how he can command his arsenal against hitters over the next few starts. If all goes well, he could push to be back in the Nationals’ rotation by the end of the summer. Rotoworld Today, 9:02 am

  • Brad Keller DFA’d by White Sox
White Sox designated RHP Brad Keller for assignment.

Advice: The move was rumored on Sunday and is now official. The 28-year-old has a 4.86 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 13/6 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings with the White Sox this season. He will most likely find a minor-league deal somewhere else and try to work his way back into a big-league rotation. Rotoworld Today, 8:56 am

  • Still limited to playing catch
Freeland (elbow) threw from about 50 feet on Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Freeland has been able to play catch for around the last 10 days, and he threw his fastball with a regular pitching motion Sunday. He still doesn't have a date to return throwing from a mound and will need to progress to bullpens and live batting practice sessions before engaging in a rehab assignment. The Rockies have projected Freeland will return in mid-June, though his current pace in recovery suggests that's an optimistic timeline. Rotowire.com Today, 7:34 am

  • Allows 10 hits Sunday
Manning allowed four runs on 10 hits and three walks over five innings Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He struck out one and did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Manning surrendered a pair of runs in the opening frame and then allowed single runs in the second and fourth. He allowed at least one base runner in every inning and managed just four whiffs on 86 pitches, leading to a season-low one strikeout. Over two starts while filling in for Kenta Maeda (illness), Manning's allowed seven runs on 19 hits while posting a 6:4 K:BB in 10.2 innings. He was unable to take advantage of the opportunity and figures to be optioned back to Triple-A Toledo this week with Maeda set to return May 24. Rotowire.com Today, 7:22 am
  • Fans eight in quality start
Bibee allowed a run on four hits and a walk over seven innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out eight during the win over the Twins.

Advice: Outside of a Jose Miranda solo shot in the third inning, Bibee was nearly untouchable Sunday. Bibee matched his season best with seven innings of work but it was just his second quality start of the year. He's registered a strong 3.23 ERA over his last seven starts, dropping his season ERA to 3.93 through 52.2 frames. Bibee's next outing is currently projected to be a road matchup with the Angels. • Shaky results in no-decision
Montgomery allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three in six innings Sunday against the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Montgomery surrendered a third inning home run to Spencer Torkelson and then the Tigers got to him for additional runs in the fifth and sixth. He came back out to begin the seventh and allowed a leadoff walk before exiting the game for good and that run would come around to score. He managed to six innings for the fourth time in six starts but has still not struck out more than four batters in any of those four outings. Though a small sample size, Montgomery's strikeout rate this year is on pace to be the lowest of his career and he's also walked multiple batters in four straight starts. The 31-year-old owns a 4.98 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB in 34.1 innings. He lines up for a home meeting with the Marlins his next time on the mound. Rotowire.com Today, 6:53 am
  • Role now being reconsidered
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol conceded after Liberatore's start Sunday versus the Red Sox that the team is now considering moving the lefty back to the bullpen, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Marmol had said previously that the club wanted to commit to Liberatore's role, which it did Friday in saying the southpaw would start Sunday and remain in the rotation indefinitely. However, following another unsuccessful, abbreviated start (three-plus innings, four runs), the Cards are now reconsidering the plan for Liberatore. If Liberatore does return to a relief role -- which would appear likely at this point -- it's not clear who St. Louis would slide into the rotation in his place. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am
