• Luis Castillo struggles in loss to Royals
Luis Castillo gave up five runs over five innings while allowing four strikeouts against the Royals on Saturday in a loss.

Advice: Castillo allowed six hits and issued a walk while striking out four. It was easily his worst start since April, as the 31-year-old had gone 10 straight starts while allowing no more than three runs, and only one of those outings saw him give up more than two. It happens. Castillo still has a healthy 3.35 ERA on the season over 14 efforts, and he gets to face the lowly White Sox next week. Rotoworld 6 minutes ago

  • Marsh allows four runs, strikes out eight vs. M’s
Alec Marsh gave up four runs in five-plus innings while striking out eight Saturday against the Mariners while being credited with a win.

Advice: Marsh, 26, gave up seven hits without issuing a walk. The first pitch he threw was hit over the fence by J.P. Crawford, but he settled down nicely over the next few innings while taking advantage of Seattle’s swing-and-miss issues. He did struggle in the fifth before being pulled, but the stuff was better than this line suggests. Marsh has streaming appeal, but that appeal doesn’t apply to a scheduled start next week against the Yankees. Rotoworld 6 minutes ago

  • One more sim game before assignment
Kershaw will throw a three-inning simulated game next week then start a rehab assignment, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports Saturday.

Advice: Kershaw completed a two-inning sim game Friday -- his second simulated game of June -- and will throw another one next week before being sent off to a rehab assignment. The veteran lefty touched 90 mph Friday and is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a shoulder surgery in November. Still, Kershaw will likely require a handful of rehab starts before rejoining the big-league roster, making a July return feasible. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Struggles in London
Manaea (3-3) took the loss Saturday against the Phillies in London, allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Manaea got off to a good start Saturday, holding the Phillies to just one hit through his first three scoreless innings. However, Bryce Harper launched a home run with one out in the fourth before Philadelphia rallied for five runs with two outs in the frame, forcing Manaea from the game. The left-hander's now allowed 11 earned runs over 9.1 innings in his last two starts after pitching to a 2.70 ERA over his previous seven outings. Overall, Manaea sports a 4.30 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP and 60:25 K:BB across 60.2 innings this year. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, currently scheduled for next week at home versus the Padres. Rotowire.com Today, 2:06 pm

  • Back in majors
The Diamondbacks recalled McGough from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

Advice: The Diamondbacks sent McGough to Reno in early May, and he has since recorded a 2.92 ERA and 1.57 WHIP across 12.1 innings for the Aces. He'll now return to Arizona to give the Snakes another fresh bullpen arm, replacing Humberto Castellanos. Rotowire.com Today, 1:57 pm
  • Diamondbacks recall Scott McGough from Triple-A
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Scott McGough from Triple-A Reno.

Advice: He’ll take the place of Humberto Castellanos in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen. McGough has already made 15 appearances out of the Diamondbacks’ bullpen this season, registering an unappealing 6.75 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 10/10 K/BB ratio over his 16 innings of work. Rotoworld Today, 1:54 pm
  • Optioned to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Castellanos to Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

Advice: Castellanos was selected to the active roster Thursday, and he will now head back to the minors after giving up five earned runs in 2.1 innings during Friday's loss. He'll remain on the 40-man roster as he heads back to Triple-A, but the D-backs will likely be hesitant to call him back up to the majors based on his poor performance. Scott McGough will come up from Reno to fill the open bullpen spot. Rotowire.com Today, 1:53 pm
  • Diamondbacks option Humberto Castellanos to AAA
Diamondbacks optioned RHP Humberto Castellanos to Triple-A Reno.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander was obliterated in his lone appearance with the Diamondbacks, giving up five runs on five hits over his 2 1/3 innings of work. Scott McGough was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move on Saturday to take his place in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 1:50 pm
  • Making next start in Double-A
Matz (back) will start on Tuesday for Double-A Springfield, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Matz was able to get through two shutout innings on 24 pitches during his first rehab start at Triple-A on Thursday. Manager Oli Marmol said Saturday that the 33-year-old southpaw will build up to 40 pitches in his upcoming start, and the team will aim to get him up to about 75-80 pitches before returning him to its big-league rotation, making it likely he'll require at least one more rehab start after Tuesday.
