    • Dealing with oblique tightness
Suzuki said after Friday's game versus the Reds that he asked to be removed in the sixth inning after feeling tightness in his oblique, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Suzuki was hit in the side by a throw while stealing a base in the first inning, and he was checked on by trainers after appearing uncomfortable at the plate in the fifth frame. He later was replaced in right field by Mike Tauchman -- a precautionary move given Suzuki's recent history with oblique injuries. The Cubs haven't run any tests on the 29-year-old's oblique, so an update on his status will likely have to wait until before Saturday's contest. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

    • Suzuki felt oblique tighten before leaving Friday
Seiya Suzuki left Friday’s game as a precaution due to tightness in his oblique.

Advice: Suzuki has dealt with oblique strains in the past and missed time in 2024 due to one, so the Cubs decided to be as careful as possible when he felt it tighten after being hit in the side. For now the outfielder should be considered day-to-day, but any type of tightness felt over the weekend will likely have the 29-year-old sitting. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

    • Nick Lodolo limits Cubs to one run in victory
Nick Lodolo held the Cubs to one run in six innings and struck out seven in the Reds’ 3-2 victory Friday.

Advice: A Dansby Swanson homer was the only damage. Lodolo picked up his sixth win in nine starts this year, matching his total in 26 starts between 2022 and ’23. He’ll take a 2.92 ERA into his next start versus the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 6:43 pm

    • Lands on IL
The Astros placed Tucker on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right shin contusion, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: Tucker has been held out of action since he fouled a ball off his right shin during Monday's game against the Cardinals. Manager Joe Espada said Friday that Tucker is feeling much better since then, per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle, though the outfielder's recovery has progressed much slower than the team initially expected. His move to the IL is retroactive to Tuesday, which will allow him to potentially return next Friday for the start of Houston's weekend series with the Tigers. Rotowire.com Today, 6:20 pm

    • Cruz blasts ninth home run on Friday
Oneil Cruz went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: The home run was Cruz’ ninth of the season and second in as many days. Prior to Thursday, he had gone 15 games without a home run and was hitting .180 in that stretch. He’s hitting .247 with a .744 OPS and 24 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 6:15 pm

    • Astros place Kyle Tucker (shin) on 10-day IL
Astros placed OF Kyle Tucker on the 10-day injured list with a right shin contusion.

Advice: Tucker has been unable to play since leaving Monday’s game with a bruise on his left shin, and the Astros will place him on the injured list rather than play shorthanded. There’s no current timetable for when the 27-year-old can return, but fantasy managers will have to be without one of the best outfielders in baseball for at least a week. Rotoworld Today, 6:00 pm

    • Seiya Suzuki leaves with apparent injury vs. Reds
Seiya Suzuki has left Fridays game against the Reds with an apparent injury.

Advice: Suzuki was hit with a throw during a stolen base, and the outfielder didn’t appear to be comfortable after. Mike Tauchman has taken over for Suzuki in right field. It’s likely that the 29-year-old will undergo further evaluation before his status going forward is revealed. Rotoworld Today, 5:50 pm

    • Kyle Tucker (shin) remains out Friday vs. Angels
Kyle Tucker (shin) is not in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Angels.

Advice: Tucker will miss a third straight game while dealing with the shin contusion that he picked up Monday. The outfielder is considered day-to-day with a good chance to return to the lineup against the Halos before the end of the weekend. Trey Cabbage is starting in Tucker’s place.
