    • Starts rehab assignment
Garcia (elbow) has been sent to the Astros' Florida Complex League affiliate to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: It will be the first game action for Garcia since he underwent Tommy John surgery last May. The 27-year-old will need most, if not all, of his 30-day rehab window, but he could prove to be a nice boost to the Astros' rotation after the All-Star break. Garcia holds a career 3.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 364:112 K:BB across 352 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:34 am

    • Picks up another start
Tyler is slated to start Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: He'll receive a second straight turn through the Miami rotation after he took a no-decision his last time out Sunday against the Mariners, covering four innings and striking out two while giving up two runs on three hits and three walks. With injuries hitting the Miami pitching staff hard at the moment, Tyler could be in store for additional starts beyond Friday, even if he continues to underwhelm. Rotowire.com Today, 8:57 am

    • Sent to rookie ball
Phillips was assigned to the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday.

Advice: Phillips has loud stuff, but his control and command have been major weaknesses throughout his career. He gave up 23 earned runs in 10.1 innings over his three most recent starts for Triple-A Louisville, and the assignment to the complex will presumably allow him to work on some mechanical stuff that's easier to address in a less competitive environment. • Sent outright to Triple-A
The Athletics outrighted Brooks to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday.

Advice: Brooks has the option to elect free agency if he wants, but there's precedent for him not doing so, as he already accepted an outright assignment earlier this month. The righty holds a 5.06 ERA and 12:8 K:BB over 26.2 frames during his time in the majors this season. Rotowire.com Today, 6:50 am
    • Debuts with eight-inning gem
Daniel (1-0) picked up the win over the Tigers on Thursday, pitching eight scoreless innings while striking out eight.

Advice: Daniel was phenomenal in his first career start, generating 13 swings and misses while allowing only three runners to reach second base over his eight innings of work. The 27-year-old threw 21 of 26 first-pitches for strikes and didn't walk a batter en route to shutting out Detroit. One would certainly think that Daniel has earned himself another start with Thursday's dominant performance. Rotowire.com Today, 6:49 am

    • Starting rehab assignment
Weiss (shoulder) has been sent to the Twins' Florida Complex League affiliate to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: Weiss has been sidelined all season with a teres major strain in his right shoulder but has been cleared for game action. Given all the time he's missed, the reliever's rehab assignment figures to be a lengthy one. Rotowire.com Today, 6:39 am

    • Nails down 14th save
McArthur pitched a perfect ninth inning and picked up the save over the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: McArthur entered the game with a one-run lead in the ninth and needed only eight pitches to retire the side for his 14th save of the season. The right-hander has been very reliable as of late, hurling a perfect inning in each of his last three appearances while lowering his June ERA to 2.00. On the downside, McArthur has managed just 4:4 K:BB this month over 10 appearances (nine innings) and hasn't recorded a strikeout in either of his last two outings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:15 am
    • Takes tough loss
Lively (7-4) took the loss against the Royals on Thursday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings while striking out five.

Advice: Lively was sharp for most of the contest and didn't allow a runner to reach second until the fifth inning when Nick Loftin walked, then advanced on a steal. Unfortunately for the right-hander, his luck would run out in the following frame after he surrendered back-to-back triples to open things up, which eventually led to two runs coming home for Kansas City. It marked Lively's first quality start this month and he's now allowed two or fewer runs in six of his last seven outings. However, he's also lost two of his last three starts after previously winning five straight. Rotowire.com Today, 4:31 am

    • Season-high six walks in win
Abbott (7-6) picked up the win over the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and six walks over five innings while striking out two.

Advice: The only runs charged to Abbott on the night came on a two-run homer from Nolan Arenado in the bottom of the third, as the lefty managed to pitch his way out of trouble the rest of the time despite issuing a season-high six free passes. Abbott has now won four of his last five starts, though he finishes the month of June with 15 walks, compared to just six in May. On the positive side, he's also gone at least five innings in 11 consecutive starts and hasn't given up more than three runs in five straight. Rotowire.com Today, 4:05 am
