    • Sitting Saturday
Renfroe is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Athletics.

Advice: Renfroe will get a day off after he went 2-for-10 with a run scored while starting the team's last three contests. Adam Frazier will enter the lineup at second base after some shuffling and bat eighth against Oakland. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

    • Patrick Bailey (concussion) resumes baseball activities
Patrick Bailey (concussion) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Bailey was evaluated by Dr. Mickey Collins, a concussion expert in Pittsburgh, and has been cleared to resume baseball activities. The 24-year-old backstop has had a pair of stints this month on the concussion injured list and will be re-evaluated next week before the Giants determine whether he’ll be activated. • Expected back Tuesday
The Cubs expect to reinstate Swanson (knee) from the injured list Tuesday, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Swanson took live batting practice Friday for the first time since landing on the injured list May 10 with a right knee injury, and he appears to be trending toward a slightly-longer-than-minimum IL stint. He will almost certainly reclaim his role as Chicago's everyday shortstop once he returns, though the 30-year-old infielder had gone just 1-for-18 with a solo home run in his last six games prior to getting injured. • Adrian Houser starting Tuesday against Guardians
Adrian Houser will start on Tuesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Houser was scratched from his expected return to New York’s starting rotation last week, but appears in line to take the ball on Tuesday against Cleveland. The decision gives rookie Christian Scott a couple extra days of rest as he’ll take the ball on Friday against the Giants instead at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago
    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) throwing again on Sunday
Kodai Senga (shoulder) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Sunday.

Advice: Senga remains in a bit of a holding pattern with his recovery from a right shoulder issue as he continues to work on his mechanics. There isn’t a definitive timetable for his return at the moment, but it seems plausible that he could be back before the end of next month, barring any setbacks. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

    • Shut down again
Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Cobb (hip/shoulder) has paused his throwing program due to further complications with his right shoulder, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Cobb has now been pulled off his throwing program three times since the beginning of the season due to problems with his shoulder. An MRI of his shoulder came back negative in late April, but the Giants will likely want to take another look just to be absolutely certain the right-hander isn't dealing with some underlying issue. Melvin added that Cobb isn't close to returning following his latest shutdown, making it likely his absence extends well into June. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

    • Luis García Jr. (heel) out Saturday vs. Phillies
Luis García Jr. (heel) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: No surprise here to see Garcia getting some time off to rest and recover for the second straight contest after suffering a right heel injury earlier this week against the White Sox. It’ll be veteran Ildemaro Vargas handling the keystone in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

    • Report: Mets offered Pete Alonso $158M extension
The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports the Mets offered first baseman Pete Alonso a seven-year, $158 million contract extension last summer.

Advice: Sherman adds that “the sides never got close to a deal.” The 29-year-old impending free agent could still wind up back in New York, but at this point it sounds like he’s going to test the free agent waters to see what other offers might be out there. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

    • Alex Cobb (shoulder) pauses throwing program
Alex Cobb (shoulder, hip) has paused his throwing program.

Advice: Giants manager Bob Melvin told reporters Cobb isn’t close to returning since he’s still feeling something in his shoulder. The 36-year-old righty underwent an MRI last month that didn’t reveal any structural damage, so it’s a really bad sign that he’s still having issues. There is no timetable for his return and at this juncture, it’s fair to wonder whether he’ll return at all this year. Rotoworld 40 minutes ago
