    • Plays catch Saturday
Williams (back) played catch before Saturday's game against the Astros, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Saturday marks the first time Williams has done any sort of throwing since being shut down during spring training due to multiple stress fractures in his back. The 29-year-old closer still has a long way to go before the Brewers can think about sending him out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but he is certainly trending in the right direction. He's expected to rejoin Milwaukee's bullpen near the All-Star break. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

    • Kevin Gausman goes six innings in no-decision
Kevin Gausman allowed three runs with six strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Saturday.

Advice: Gausman had worked around four hits through five scoreless frames before the Rays would get to him in the sixth. Two base hits and a walk would load the bases with two outs. Amed Rosario knocked a single to plate two runs. José Caballero followed with a single to bring in one more before Gausman got out of the inning. He struck out six. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 4.89 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and a 43/11 K/BB ratio across 42 1/3 innings into a start against the Tigers in Detroit on Thursday. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

    • Missing fifth straight
Riley (side) isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Saturday's game versus San Diego.

Advice: Riley said Saturday that he is feeling better, per Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but he has yet to resume swinging a bat. The 27-year-old infielder also noted that the team has not talked with him about a potential move to the injured list; however, Riley wouldn't say that he would be back in time for the start of Atlanta's upcoming series with the Cubs on Tuesday. Zack Short, who will start at third base and bat seventh Saturday, has served as Atlanta's third baseman since Riley went down and should continue to do so until the slugger recovers. • Giancarlo Stanton stays hot with homer Saturday
Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and a walk against the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Stanton doubled in the first inning to drive in a run for the Yankees. He then homered off Brad Keller in the third before drawing a walk to reach for a third time in the fifth inning. The 34-year-old slugger is heating up along with the rest of the Yankees lineup. He’s now had multiple hits in four of his last five games, including three homers. Stanton is hitting .258/.309/.530 with 11 homers and 26 RBI across 162 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 12:43 pm

    • Austin Riley not in Saturday’s lineup vs. Padres
Austin Riley (side) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s tilt against the Padres.

Advice: Riley will miss his fifth straight contest due to left side inflammation. There’s a possibility he’ll be ready to go at some point later this weekend, but Atlanta clearly doesn’t want to take any chances by rushing him back too quickly. It’ll be Zack Short drawing another start at the hot corner in his ongoing absence. Rotoworld Today, 12:39 pm

    • Expected back Tuesday
The Cubs expect to reinstate Swanson (knee) from the injured list Tuesday, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Swanson took live batting practice Friday for the first time since landing on the injured list May 10 with a right knee injury, and he appears to be trending toward a slightly-longer-than-minimum IL stint. He will almost certainly reclaim his role as Chicago's everyday shortstop once he returns, though the 30-year-old infielder had gone just 1-for-18 with a solo home run in his last six games prior to getting injured. • Dansby Swanson (knee) likely back on Tuesday
Dansby Swanson (knee) is likely to be activated for Tuesday’s series opener against the Braves.

Advice: Swanson continues to ramp up baseball activities and it sounds like he’ll be activated early next week when first eligible to face his former club at Wrigley Field. The 30-year-old shortstop hit the shelf last week with a right knee sprain. Rotoworld Today, 8:33 am

    • Dazzles in first win of season
Luzardo (1-3) picked up the win Friday, allowing five hits over six scoreless innings in an 8-0 victory over the Mets. He struck out seven without walking a batter.

Advice: After a couple first-inning hits got Francisco Lindor to second base, Luzardo locked in and retired 11 straight batters. All five hits off the southpaw were singles, and he fired 59 of 89 pitches for strikes in his second quality start of the year. After a bumpy first few weeks to the season and then an IL stint, Luzardo appears to be back in form, delivering a 15:1 K:BB in 11.2 innings over two starts since rejoining the rotation. He'll carry a 5.02 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Brewers. Rotowire.com Today, 7:53 am
    • Mashes homer No. 10
Stanton went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: He crushed a Tanner Banks fastball down the left-field line on the first pitch he saw to lead off the sixth inning. Stanton has stayed healthy so far this season and is already at 10 long balls through 39 games, giving him a shot at his first 40-homer campaign since 2017 if he can avoid length injury absences. His .250/.297/.500 and 33.5 percent strikeout rate -- which would be the worst mark of his career if it doesn't come down -- indicate how one-dimensional the 34-year-old has become at this stage of his career, however.
