      Advice: Iglesias made quick work of Washington in the ninth inning, needing just nine pitches to set the side down in order. The veteran closer has converted each of his past eight save chances, allowing three runs over 10 frames during that span. Iglesias hasn't been punching out batters at his usual rate this season -- he has just 16 strikeouts through 23.1 innings -- but he nonetheless is tied for fifth in the majors with 16 saves (in 18 chances).       Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer on Thursday, powering the Dodgers to an 11-7 victory over the Pirates.

      Advice: Betts capped off Los Angeles’ six-run explosion in the fifth inning with his 10th round-tripper of the season, taking Pirates reliever Ben Heller deep to center field. It was his second big fly in his last four games and first multi-hit effort since May 28. He also walked twice in this one.       Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Nationals on Thursday.



      Advice: The save was Iglesias’ 16th of the season, but his lack of strikeouts this season is evident. He has struck out seven in his last 12 innings.       Mitch Garver drove in two runs and hit a solo homer in a victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

      Advice: Garver also drew two walks. He blooped in a single to score Cal Raleigh in the fourth, and his homer was off a center-cut fastball from T.J. McFarland that extended Seattle’s lead to 3-0. Garver has six homers on the season and has been a significant disappointment with a slash of .175/.285/.327 over the first 60-plus games of 2024.       Sean Murphy (elbow) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Nationals.

      Advice: It’s an extremely encouraging sign to see Murphy back handling the catching duties following a brief one-game absence after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow during the late stages of Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox.       Advice: Murphy had to depart Tuesday's game against the Red Sox after being struck on the right elbow by a pitch and was then held out of action Wednesday.
