    • Jorge Polanco won’t return when eligible
Jorge Polanco (hamstring) will not return from the injured list when first eligible on Thursday.

Advice: The 30-year-old second baseman has been making progress in his recovery from a mild right hamstring strain, but he’s not close to a return just yet. He has been participating in infield drills and has been taking batting practice, but it sounds like he may ultimately need a game or two on a minor league rehab assignment before he’s ready to rejoin the M’s lineup. • Elias Díaz notches three hits, homers in loss
Elias Díaz went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBI on Wednesday in the Rockies’ loss to the Reds.

Advice: Díaz did most of his damage in the early stages of the contest when he kicked off the scoring with a first-inning RBI ground out before adding a solo shot in the fifth inning -- his fifth long ball of the season -- and also chipping in a run-scoring single in the seventh inning. The 33-year-old veteran backstop is quietly hitting .306 with 20 runs scored, five homers and 27 RBI this season through 51 games. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:29 pm

    • Diagnosed with ankle sprain
Bouchard suffered a right high-ankle sprain during Wednesday's game against the Reds, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Bouchard suffered the injury during the eighth inning of Wednesday's contest when his foot slipped off first base following a sacrifice bunt. He'll almost certainly have to spend time on the injured list, opening the door for Jake Cave to make regular starts in left field for the Rockies. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:45 pm

    • Sean Bouchard leaves game with injury Wednesday
Sean Bouchard was pulled from Wednesday afternoon’s battle against the Reds due to an apparent injury.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder twisted either his ankle or his foot as he fell off of first base in the eighth inning. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury. Expect the Rockies to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available. • Exits with injury
Bouchard was removed from Wednesday's game against the Reds with an apparent foot injury, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Bouchard's foot slipped off first base once he reached the bag on a sacrifice bunt during the eighth inning. He had to be helped off the field and into the Rockies' clubhouse, where the team will presumably take him in for imaging. Brenton Doyle, normally a regular in the lineup, entered as Bouchard's replacement Wednesday, but Jake Cave would likely see an increase in playing time should Bouchard require a trip to the IL. • Swipes fifth bag
Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Advice: Hitting third against rookie lefty DJ Herz, Nimmo reached base three times in a game for the first time since May 5. The on-base machine is batting just .222 on the season, but he sports a .350 OBP thanks to a 13.4 percent walk rate, his highest mark since 2021. Nimmo's added seven homers, five steals, 31 runs and 31 RBI in 58 games to his ledger. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:34 am

    • Struggles with power
Dunning didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk across five innings against the Tigers. He struck out four.

Advice: Dunning couldn't keep the ball in the yard, yielding a two-run home run to Zach McKinstry in the second inning and a solo homer to Riley Greene in the fifth inning for the three runs that went on his ledger. The 29-year-old hasn't completed six innings since his second start of the campaign and owns a 4.09 ERA across 50.2 innings on the year. He's tentatively scheduled for a road matchup with the Dodgers on Wednesday, June 12. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:43 pm

    • Dunning allows three earned runs in loss to Tigers
Dane Dunning allowed three earned runs over five innings while striking out four in Tuesday’s loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Dunning allowed just five baserunners on the evening, but home runs to Zach McKinstry and Riley Green did enough damage to saddle him with the loss. Dunning didn’t get any run support in this one, as Tigers starter Jack Flaherty allowed just two hits in five innings of work to keep the Tigers in front throughout the evening. Dunning’s next start is scheduled for Tuesday, on the road against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:03 pm

    • Keibert Ruiz goes 0-for-4 against Mets
Keibert Ruiz went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: We wonder how Riley Adams feels about being back in Triple-A while performing better than Ruiz both offensively and defensively these last two seasons. The 0-for tonight leaves Ruiz at .199/.239/.288 for 2024. He has to be better than this offensively, but the Nationals seem to be at a complete loss for ideas to improve his defense.
