    • Masataka Yoshida (thumb) takes BP on Saturday
Masataka Yoshida (thumb) progressed to taking batting practice on Saturday at Fenway Park.

Advice: Yoshida progressed to taking on-field batting practice for the first time since landing on the injured list back in early May with a left thumb issue. The 30-year-old slugger should be ready for a minor league rehab assignment at some point in the coming weeks, if not sooner. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

    • Joe Musgrove lands on IL with triceps tendinitis
Padres placed RHP Joe Musgrove on the 15-day injured list with right triceps tendinitis.

Advice: Musgrove lasted just two starts before a reccurrance of the triceps issue that sent him to the injured list at the outset of May winds up putting him back on the shelf. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune adds that Musgrove’s triceps issue “is not believed at this time to be a season-ending injury.” It certainly doesn’t sound great and fantasy managers should anticipate Musgrove requiring a lengthy absence. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days once he undergoes some additional imaging to determine whether he’s dealing with any structural damage. Stay tuned. • Elbow issues return
The Padres placed Musgrove on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right elbow inflammation, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Musgrove was originally slated to start Saturday against the Royals, but he will now return to the injured list after experiencing further issues with his right elbow/triceps. The 31-year-old was able to return from the IL after 16 days following his first encounter with elbow problems in May, but the Padres will likely bring him back slower this time around to ensure his elbow is back to 100 percent the next time he takes the mound. Randy Vasquez was recalled from Triple-A to start in Musgrove's place Saturday and will likely remain in the Padres' rotation until Musgrove is able to return. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

    • Scratched from start
Musgrove will not start as scheduled Saturday against the Royals.

Advice: The Padres recalled Randy Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso to start Saturday's contest, causing Musgrove's next start to be pushed back. It's unclear whether the 31-year-old is dealing with an injury or the Padres simply want to give him some extra rest, but the team should offer some clarity in the near future. • Joe Musgrove scratched from Saturday start
Joe Musgrove has been scratched from Saturday’s start against the Royals.

Advice: No word yet on the reason for the move yet. It’ll be Randy Vásquez taking the ball on Saturday afternoon in his absence against the Royals. There should be an update on his status shortly. Rotoworld Today, 10:11 am

    • Plates three runs Friday
Cronenworth went 2-for-5 with a double, a run and three RBI in an 11-8 win over Kansas City on Friday.

Advice: Cronenworth was a key part of San Diego's nine-run eighth inning, knocking in the first two runs of the frame with a single and capping the outburst with an RBI double. The pair of base knocks were much-needed for the second baseman, as he had just one hit over his previous 14 at-bats prior to the big inning. Cronenworth slashed .265/.315/.461 with four homers, 18 RBI, nine runs and a stolen base over 26 games in May. Rotowire.com Today, 9:17 am
    • Swipes second bag
Greene went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Getting the start in center field and batting second, Greene was the only Tiger to record multiple hits on the night. The 23-year-old has reached base eight times in the last four games, and on the season he's slashing .239/.343/.449 with 10 homers, two steals, 22 RBI and 37 runs through 56 contests. • Starring role in win
Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Tovar was the only Rockie with multiple hits in the contest. This was his 10th multi-hit effort over his last 16 games, a span in which he's batting .356 (26-for-73) with four homers, nine RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base. The shortstop is up to a .294/.328/.481 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI, 30 runs scored, four steals, 17 doubles and a triple over 55 contests this season. He still hits far better at home (.862 OPS), but he's been passable on the road this season as well with a .757 OPS away from Coors Field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:23 pm
    • Ezequiel Tovar picks up three hits, homers in win
Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in a win Friday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Tovar gave the Rockies a 4-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth off Walker Buehler. The shortstop has homered eight times in 2024 with five of them coming in May. Tovar still needs to show a little more consistency to reach an elite level, but the talent is there for him to reach that lofty status in the coming years. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:47 pm
