    • Framber Valdez turns in complete game in 7-1 win
Framber Valdez went the distance against the Angels tonight, striking out eight in the Astros’ 7-1 victory.

Advice: This was the same team he gave up eight runs to on May 20. Valdez pitched a four-hitter in his seventh career complete game and first of 2024. He’s now 5-3 with a 3.53 ERA, and he’ll have a chance to keep it going against the Giants on Wednesday. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago
    • Goes distance in win
Valdez tossed a complete game to earn the win Friday over the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over nine innings.

Advice: The Astros' bullpen was fairly fresh, but Valdez took care of business himself in his seventh career complete game. The lone mistake on his line was a Kevin Pillar solo home run in the second inning. Valdez has quality starts in four of his last five outings, and his strong performance Friday lowered his ERA to 3.53 with a 1.15 WHIP and 50:18 K:BB over 63.2 innings through 10 starts this season. The southpaw is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 9:44 pm
    • Delivers quality start
Allen allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over six frames in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three during the loss to Miami.

Advice: Allen served up back-to-back solo homers to Bryan De La Cruz and Josh Bell in the third inning but otherwise kept Miami's offense fairly quiet. It was a needed bounce-back after Allen was tagged with seven runs through 1.2 innings in his last appearance. He posted a 6.26 ERA in six May starts despite two of them being scoreless outings. For the season, Allen owns a 5.57 ERA and a 54:23 K:BB through 64.2 innings. His next start is projected to be in Toronto next weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 pm

    • Logan Allen surrenders two runs to Marlins
Logan Allen yielded two runs through six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Allen bounced back after getting lit up by the Rockies last time out. He’s one out shy of having four quality starts in five tries (3 ER in 5 2/3 IP vs. the Angels on May 24), but there’s nothing much to get excited about here. His stuff isn’t quite as good as it was last year. Rotoworld Today, 7:13 pm

    • Westburg hits 10th home run in win Friday
Jordan Westburg went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Westburg’s home run was his 10th of the season. He hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Orioles a 6-3 lead. The 25-year-old third baseman is having a breakout season for Baltimore. His 133 wRC+ is in the top 25 among qualified hitters this year. Rotoworld Today, 6:54 pm

    • Santander crushes 13th home run in win Friday
Anthony Santander went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run against the Rays on Friday.

Advice: The home run was Santander’s 13th of the season and came against Rays starter Aaron Civale. While his average is a little lower than he’d like it to be this year at .227, the power is still there for Santander. Rotoworld Today, 6:50 pm

    • Sitting down Friday
Jansen isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Friday's game against Oakland.

Advice: Jansen went 1-for-11 with a walk during Toronto's last series against the Orioles, and he'll now sit down for the second time in the Jays' last two games. Alejandro Kirk will fill in behind the plate to catch Chris Bassitt while batting sixth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:56 pm

    • Nico Hoerner out of lineup due to hand injury
Cubs manager Craig Counsell now says X-rays last night on Nico Hoerner’s hand came back “somewhat inconclusive,” and the second baseman is not playing in Friday’s game.

Advice: It was originally reported that the X-rays came back negative after Hoerner was hit on the right hand by a pitch. Hoerner, though, had some trouble gripping the bat and swinging today. Hopefully, this is still just a day-to-day thing. There is the potential for some bad news, though. David Bote is starting at second base tonight. Rotoworld Today, 2:26 pm

    • Sitting out after HBP
Hoerner is not in Friday's lineup in Cincinnati after being hit on the hand by a pitch in Thursday's win over the White Sox, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Hoerner was struck by a pitch in the fourth inning Thursday but stayed in and finished that game. He underwent a precautionary X-ray afterward, which evidently came back clean. However, it could be dealing with some residual soreness, hence his absence from Friday's lineup. Consider him day-to-day. David Bote will handle second base Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:22 pm
