Brown is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Brown has now sat out four times in five games, with three of his absences from the lineup coming against right-handed pitchers. Brown appears to be moving into more of a part-time role while Brent Rooker and Tyler Nevin have taken on more playing time at the corner-outfield spots and while Abraham Toro has gained traction at designated hitter. Brown has produced a lowly .534 OPS on the season, including a .542 mark against right-handers. Rotowire.com Today, 2:57 pm

  • Playing time picking up
Mastrobuoni will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: With Dansby Swanson (knee) recently going on the injured list and with Nico Hoerner (hamstring) out of the lineup for the second day in a row, Mastrobuoni has been the main beneficiary from a playing-time perspective. He'll draw his fifth start in seven games Wednesday and could continue to see fairly steady playing time in the middle infield even if Hoerner avoids a trip to the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 1:48 pm

  • Losing at-bats against righties
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: On the bench for the third time in four games -- all against right-handed starting pitchers -- Ramirez looks as though he's fallen into a short-side platoon role. He's been playing fairly regularly against both lefties and righties for most of the season, but Ramirez's overall opportunities will likely be more limited moving forward with the Rays recently welcoming back Josh Lowe and Jonathan Aranda from the injured list. • Retreating to bench
Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Rosario will head to the bench after he had started in each of the previous four games while seeing time at three different spots in the infield (second base, third base and shortstop). Though the right-handed-hitting Rosario should remain a mainstay in the lineup versus lefties, his opportunities to play against right-handed pitching could be more limited moving forward after the Rays activated the lefty-hitting Jonathan Aranda from the injured list Tuesday. • Ronald Acuña Jr. not in Braves lineup on Wednesday
Ronald Acuña Jr. is not in the Braves’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Cubs.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the 26-year-old superstar. Michael Harris II will move up to the leadoff spot in the Braves’ order while Adam Duvall will draw a rare start against a right-hander and will bat sixth against Javier Assad and the Cubs on Wednesday evening in Atlanta. • Bryan De La Cruz goes deep, Marlins edge Tigers
Bryan De La Cruz launched a two-run homer on Wednesday, leading the Marlins to a 2-0 victory over the Tigers.

Advice: De La Cruz supplied the lone runs for either side in a low-scoring Wednesday afternoon matinee at Comerica Park courtesy of a gargantuan 422-foot blast to left-center field off Tigers starter Casey Mize in the opening frame. It was his lone hit in four at-bats and his ninth round-tripper of the season. The 27-year-old corner outfielder has put together a nice breakthrough campaign so far for the struggling Marlins, batting .256 (46-for-180) with 25 runs scored, nine homers, 24 RBI and one steal through 45 contests. • Exits game with bruised knee
Santander was removed from Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-4 with a double.

Advice: Santander banged up his knee when he collided with the outfield wall and then aggravated it on a double and a slide in the eighth inning before being lifted in the ninth. The injury doesn't sound like a big concern, and it's possible the Orioles' scheduled off day Thursday will be enough rest for Santander. Consider him day-to-day heading into this weekend's series versus the Mariners. Rotowire.com Today, 1:12 pm

  • Gets first day off of season
Acuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Acuna is on the bench for the series finale, but his absence doesn't appear to be anything more than a much-needed maintenance day after he had started in right field in each of Atlanta's first 39 games of the season. Adam Duvall will step in as the starting right fielder in place of Acuna, who is in the midst of a cool stretch at the plate with just four hits in 31 at-bats over his last eight starts. • Anthony Santander leaves game with bruised knee
Anthony Santander was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee.

Advice: Santander initially suffered the injury when he crashed into the outfield wall in the third inning on Wednesday. He then aggravated if further while sliding into second base during the eighth inning. It doesn’t sound like it’s anything that should require a trip to the injured list, but there’s a chance that the 29-year-old slugger will be held out of the lineup an extra day or two to be on the safe side.
