• Ben Brown (neck) throwing bullpen on Saturday
Ben Brown (neck) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: Brown has resumed throwing just a couple weeks after landing on the shelf with a neck strain. The 24-year-old righty appeared to be putting it all together this season with a pristine 3.58 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 64/19 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings (15 appearances, eight starts) before hitting the injured list. He’s worth stashing in deeper mixed leagues until he’s ready to return in a couple weeks. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

  • Slated for rehab start Tuesday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Mata (shoulder) felt good after his rehab start Thursday, and the right-hander will start again for Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: In his first rehab outing for Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Mata allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out two over 2.2 frames. He opened the season on the injured list with a right hamstring strain, but he has been dealing with lat and shoulder soreness since May. Mata is out of minor-league options, and the 25-year-old right-hander is expected to work as a reliever out of Boston's bullpen once his rehab program is complete. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

  • D-backs activate Zac Gallen for start against A’s
Diamondbacks activated RHP Zac Gallen from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Gallen finds himself the recipient of a tasty matchup on Saturday afternoon against the rebuilding Athletics following a one-month absence due to a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. The 28-year-old upper-echelon fantasy contributor holds a strong 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 60/15 K/BB ratio across 57 2/3 innings (11 starts) this season. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

  • Reinstated from IL
The Diamondbacks reinstated Gallen (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Saturday versus Oakland.

Advice: Gallen was able to build up to 67 pitches while throwing bullpen sessions and sim games during his time on the injured list, so it's possible he'll be under a pitch count as he makes his first start since May 30. In a corresponding move, Brandon Hughes was optioned to Triple-A Reno. Rotowire.com Today, 9:56 am

  • DFA'd by Cleveland
The Guardians designated Kent for assignment Saturday.

Advice: Kent has been on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Columbus since April 19 due to a right elbow strain. He pitched five scoreless innings across his three outings in the minors this season, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out eight. Rotowire.com Today, 9:56 am

  • Guardians finalize one-year deal with Matthew Boyd
Guardians signed LHP Matthew Boyd to a one-year contract; placed him on the 15-day injured list.

Advice: The deal, which was reported earlier this week, is now official. Boyd is almost exactly 12 months removed from last year’s Tommy John surgery and figures to be able to bolster Cleveland’s pitching mix at some point in the second half of the season as either a traditional starter or multi-inning reliever. The 33-year-old southpaw was effective, when healthy, over the last three years in stint with the Mariners and Tigers. Rotoworld Today, 9:45 am

  • Guardians designate Zak Kent for assignment
Guardians designated RHP Zak Kent for assignment.

Advice: Kent has been removed from Cleveland’s 40-man roster to make room for newly-signed lefty Matthew Boyd. The 26-year-old was picked up back in March in a small trade with the Rangers and hasn’t made an appearance for the Guardians yet. Rotoworld Today, 9:42 am

  • Placed on IL
The Guardians placed Boyd on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left elbow injury.

Advice: Boyd signed a one-year deal with the Guardians on Thursday. The left-hander continues to progress in his rehab from Tommy John surgery last June, and the Guardians don't expect Boyd to enter the rotation until August, per Tom Withers of the Associated Press. Boyd started in 15 games for the Tigers in 2023, going 5-5 with a 5.45 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 71 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:37 am

  • Lands on injured list
The Brewers placed Koenig on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left forearm tendinitis.

Advice: Koenig threw 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out three batters during his appearance Friday versus the Cubs, but he seems to have come away from his outing with an injury. The 30-year-old southpaw has been one of the Brewers' more surprising finds of the season, posting a 1.66 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 38 innings. Rob Zastryzny was selected from Triple-A Nashville to replenish Milwaukee's bullpen depth. Rotowire.com Today, 9:09 am
