  • Allows seven runs in loss
    Gausman (6-7) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing seven runs on seven hits, five walks and a hit batsman against the Yankees. He struck out seven.

    Advice: Gausman needed 107 pitches to record 13 outs, allowing season highs in runs (seven) and walks (five) while being tagged for three extra-base hits including a first-inning Aaron Judge two-run blast. Gausman did strike out seven batters to represent the fourth time this season he's reached at least seven in an outing, but that's nothing more than a minor silver lining around Sunday's ugly performance. It's the fifth time this season Gausman has allowed at least five runs in a start, and he closes the month of June with a 5.64 ERA over 36.2 innings spanning six starts.   • Quality start in no-decision
    Freeland came away with a no-decision Sunday against the White Sox, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and two walks in 6.2 innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: Freeland made his second start since coming off the 60-day injured list, throwing 80 pitches Sunday after throwing 69 his last time out. The 31-year-old has been sharp since returning despite the reduced workload, notching quality starts in both appearances en route to a 1.42 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP across 12.2 innings.   • Freeland allows two runs in no-decision Sunday
    Kyle Freeland allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Rockies’ 5-4 victory over the White Sox on Sunday.



    Advice: Freeland gave up six hits, walked two and struck out three. He had a 13.21 ERA in four starts in April, but Freeland has been good in both of his June starts since returning from the injured list. Still, he isn’t a strikeout pitcher and it’s tough to win games on the Rockies so there isn’t much upside. The 31-year-old left-hander is set to face the Royals at home next weekend.

  • Kevin Gausman loses, struggles again
    Kevin Gausman allowed seven runs in just 4 1/3 innings on Sunday against the Yankees. He walked five and struck out seven in a loss.

    Advice: Gausman just hasn’t been right all year. Aaron Judge crushed a first-inning fastball that wasn’t up-and-in enough and the Yankees kept traffic on the bases seemingly every inning. His tried and true game plan of fastballs and splitters does not have the same potency it used to as his fastball velocity has dipped and hitters don’t chase or whiff on that splitter like they once did.   • Fans nine in win
    Lopez (8-6) earned the win over the Mariners on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings while striking out nine.

    Advice: Lopez stumbled a bit over the first three frames, allowing a walk and four hits, including a solo home run off the bat of Mitch Haniger. However, the right-hander recovered nicely after the early hiccups, fanning six of the nine batters he faced over his final three innings of work as Minnesota took a 5-1 lead. Lopez induced 18 swinging strikes on the night and now has 25 strikeouts over his last 14 innings on the mound.   • Chased early in no-decision
    Glasnow did not factor into the decision against the Giants on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over three innings while striking out one.

    Advice: Glasnow didn't have his best stuff Saturday, allowing the leadoff man to reach in each of his three innings of work while surrendering four extra-base hits. It marked the right-hander's shortest outing of the campaign and the second time in his last four starts that he's given up five runs.   • Pitches well in no-decision
    Olson allowed two runs on five hits across six innings and did not factor into the decision in Saturday's contest against the Angels. He walked three and struck out nine.

    Advice: The nine strikeouts are a new season high, though the three walks also matched a season high, as Olson was all over the place Saturday. He still managed a solid outing overall despite missing out on his third win of the year. The righty's 2-8 record isn't fitting of his 3.32 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 89.1 innings this season.   • Hit hard by Guardians
    Ragans (5-6) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs on six hits and a walk over 4.2 innings as the Royals were downed 7-2 by the Guardians. He struck out six.

    Advice: The big blow off the southpaw was a two-run blast by rookie Jhonkensy Noel in the fourth inning, but Ragans also got tagged for doubles by Josh Naylor and Jose Ramirez, with the latter chasing him from the game in the fifth after 93 pitches (52 strikes). Ragans hadn't given up more than three runs in a start since May 11, and he'll take a 3.33 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 126:34 K:BB through 102.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Colorado.   • Pablo López strikes out nine in victory over M’s
    Pablo López recorded nine strikeouts and allowed one run over six innings on Saturday in a win over the Mariners.

    Advice: We certainly hope you weren’t one of the fantasy managers that bailed on López during his persistent struggles earlier this month as he’s recorded at least nine strikeouts in back-to-back outings and has allowed just one earned run over 14 innings of work during that span, capitalizing on a pair of favorable road matchups against the Athletics and Mariners, respectively. The underlying expected stats pointed to some regression from a run-prevention standpoint, so we’re not totally surprised that he’s reverted to form after a handful of rough outings. He’ll aim to keep the momentum going when he squares off against the Astros on Friday in his penultimate start prior to the upcoming All-Star break. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:44 am
