    • Astros outright Blain Henley to Triple-A
Astros sent RHP Blair Henley outright to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Henley cleared waivers in spite of his potential ability to soak up innings in the second half. The 27-year-old has a 4.50 ERA in 13 starts for Sugar Land. We hope he sees the majors again at some point, since his current career ERA of 135.00, the product of one start this April, is rather unsightly. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

    • Clears waivers, headed to Triple-A
Henley cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Henley was designated for assignment Sunday, but he'll now return to Houston's Triple-A affiliate after not being claimed by another team. The 27-year-old appeared in just one game with Houston this year, giving up five earned runs in one-third of an inning. He'll return to Sugar Land, where he's logged a 4.35 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 54:37 K:BB across 60 innings this season. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

    • Shifted to 60-day IL
Matz (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Advice: The Cardinals had to clear up a spot on the 40-man roster for Gordon Graceffo to be called up and opted to push Matz to the 60-day IL to create the opening. Considering Matz was put on the injured list May 3, his move to the 60-day injured list won't impact his timeline for return. The 33-year-old was shut down from throwing for two weeks June 22. • Steven Matz shifted to 60-day injured list
Cardinals transferred LHP Steven Matz from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Matz is just two days away from being eligible to come off the 60-day IL, so this is irrelevant to him. He recently had a setback with this strained back and probably won’t be an option before late July at the earliest. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

    • Orioles place Corbin Burnes on paternity list
Orioles placed RHP Corbin Burnes on the paternity list.

Advice: All this meant is that the Orioles will benefit from having an extra reliever for the next two or three days. Burnes defeated the Rangers last night and isn’t slated to make his next start until Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 11:20 am

    • Placed on paternity leave list
The Orioles placed Burnes on the paternity leave list Friday.

Advice: Burnes will likely be away for the remainder of the series against the Rangers as he welcomes a new addition to the family. The righty started Thursday's series opener and should be back in time for his next turn, which is tentatively lined up to come next week in Seattle. Rotowire.com Today, 11:15 am

    • A’s outright Aaron Brooks to Triple-A
Athletics signed RHP Aaron Brooks outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Five innings of one-run ball in relief Monday wasn’t enough to get Brooks a look from another major league team. He can become a free agent, but his best bet for more MLB time is to stick with the A’s. Rotoworld Today, 10:56 am
    • Starts rehab assignment
Garcia (elbow) has been sent to the Astros' Florida Complex League affiliate to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: It will be the first game action for Garcia since he underwent Tommy John surgery last May. The 27-year-old will need most, if not all, of his 30-day rehab window, but he could prove to be a nice boost to the Astros' rotation after the All-Star break. Garcia holds a career 3.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 364:112 K:BB across 352 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:34 am

    • Sent to rookie ball
Phillips was assigned to the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday.

Advice: Phillips has loud stuff, but his control and command have been major weaknesses throughout his career. He gave up 23 earned runs in 10.1 innings over his three most recent starts for Triple-A Louisville, and the assignment to the complex will presumably allow him to work on some mechanical stuff that's easier to address in a less competitive environment.
