    • Gerrit Cole’s rehab assignment to continue
Gerrit Cole will require “at least a couple of more” rehab starts before coming off the injured list, according to manager Aaron Boone.

Advice: This was a given, but we’ll run with it anyway. Cole threw 45 pitches in 3 1/3 scoreless innings for Double-A Somerset on Tuesday. He should come in closer to 60 pitches next time out. Rotoworld Today, 12:59 pm

    • Mashes homer No. 10
De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.

Advice: He got the Marlins on the board with a solo shot off Ryan Pepiot in the first inning before adding an RBI fielder's choice in the seventh. De La Cruz snapped a 14-game power drought with the performance, a stretch in which he'd hit just .226 (12-for-53) with one RBI. On the season, the 27-year-old is slashing .248/.304/.412 with 10 homers, 27 RBI and 28 runs in 60 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 9:23 am
    • Red Sox activate Tyler O’Neill, start him in RF
Red Sox activated OF Tyler O’Neill from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: O’Neill, who missed 10 games with a knee injury, is starting in right field and batting fifth against the Braves today. Red Sox manager Alex Cora also said he’d do a fair amount of DHing, with Rob Refsnyder playing right, in the short term. Rotoworld Today, 8:41 am

    • Batting fifth in return from IL
The Red Sox reinstated O'Neill (knee) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. He'll start in right field and bat fifth in Wednesday's series finale with Atlanta, according to Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald.

Advice: He'll be back in action after spending the minimum 10 days on the shelf with right knee inflammation. Prior to being deactivated, O'Neill had been making most of his starts in left field or at designated hitter, but he could see regular action in right field for the foreseeable future after Wilyer Abreu (ankle) was placed on the IL on Tuesday. • Cruises to eighth win
Gil (8-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings in a 5-1 victory over the Twins. He struck out six.

Advice: The 26-year-old didn't miss a beat after being named the American League Rookie and Pitcher of the Month for May. Gil extended his quality-start streak to seven with the performance, and he's won all seven of those outings with an eye-popping 0.60 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB through 44.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to be a marquee matchup against the Dodgers in Yankee Stadium this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 8:04 am

    • Will be activated Wednesday
Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow confirmed that O'Neill (knee) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: O'Neill was hitless in a rehab game with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, but more importantly, he came out of the contest with no concerns about his right knee, clearing the way for his return from the IL. The 28-year-old spent the minimum 10 days on the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 8:03 am

    • Slugs 14th homer
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: The first baseman took Washington closer Kyle Finnegan deep to left field in the ninth inning to give the Mets an insurance run. Alonso's racked up seven hits, including three doubles and two homers, over the last six games, and since May 7 he's slashing .279/.330/.548 in 26 contests with six of his 14 long balls and 15 of his 31 RBI on the season. • On base three times
Rengifo went 2-for-3 with a walk, a steal and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Rengifo plated the Angels' first run with a base hit in the third and wound up being stranded on second after notching his 14th steal and second in as many games. He now has at least a hit in four straight games and is slashing .390/.419/.512 with three RBI, eight runs and a 2:4 BB:K in 43 plate appearances since May 24. Rotowire.com Today, 7:33 am

    • Goes yard twice in loss
Witt went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: The 23-year-old superstar took Triston McKenzie deep in the third and fourth innings to help stake the Royals to an early 5-0 lead, but Seth Lugo and the bullpen couldn't make it hold up. Witt has hit safely in 16 of the last 17 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .378/.400/.716 with six homers, two steals, 15 runs and 23 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 7:23 am
