    • Returns to Triple-A
The Orioles optioned Vespi to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Advice: Vespi allowed just one run in his first 10 innings of big-league action before yielding three runs to the Rangers on Sunday. With Dean Kremer (triceps) returning from the IL, Vespi will be sent back to Triple-A. The 28-year-old owns a 2.84 ERA across 25.1 innings with Norfolk this season. • Activated ahead of start
The Orioles activated Kremer (triceps) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Kremer will rejoin the Orioles' rotation with a start Wednesday against the Mariners. He missed six weeks of action with a right triceps strain and did not pitch well on a rehab assignment, posting an 11.42 ERA and 9:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings. Even with a plus matchup on tap versus Seattle, fantasy managers might be wise to give Kremer a start or two before activating him. Rotowire.com Today, 11:25 am

    • RHP Shane Baz to start on Friday
RHP Shane Baz will join the Rays’ rotation and start Friday’s game against the Rangers, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

Advice: Baz will take the rotation spot that opened up when the Rays dealt Aaron Civale to the Brewers. In Baz’ last five games with Triple-A Durham he has a 1.57 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 10.4 walk percentage, and 36.5 strikeout percentage in 23 innings. He should be rostered in any format where he’s available. • Back in big leagues
The Rays recalled Sterner from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: He will take the roster spot vacated by Aaron Civale, who has been traded to the Brewers. Sterner has made two appearances out of the Rays' bullpen this season, allowing two runs (one earned) with a 4:1 K:BB over four innings. He'll be used in low-leverage spots. • Taking Civale's spot in rotation
Baz will be recalled from Triple-A Durham to take Aaron Civale's spot in the Rays' rotation, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Prior to being traded to the Brewers, Civale's next turn was slated to be Friday in Texas. It's not clear whether Baz will start that day or another, but his return to the big leagues is imminent. Baz struggled in May at Durham with a 7.71 ERA and 9:13 K:BB over 16.1 innings, but he rebounded in June, collecting a 1.57 ERA and 35:10 K:BB across 23 frames. The Rays could be careful with his workload in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, but Baz should be rostered in all fantasy formats. Rotowire.com Today, 10:27 am
    • Shifts to relief role
Blach gave up one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out a batter out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Blach made his second relief appearance since losing his spot in the rotation when the Rockies welcomed Kyle Freeland back from the injured list June 23. Over his nine starts with Colorado, Blach turned in a 5.83 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 46.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 10:04 am

    • Expected to get multiple turns
The Tigers recalled Montero from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Montero will draw the start Wednesday in Minnesota. While he's technically filling in for Jack Flaherty (back) on Wednesday, Montero will receive multiple turns as a replacement for Casey Mize (hamstring), per manager A.J. Hinch. Montero has allowed nine runs with an 11:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings with the Tigers this season and holds a 5.03 ERA and 54:30 K:BB across 48.1 frames for Toledo. Rotowire.com Today, 9:28 am
    • Lands on IL with strained hamstring
The Tigers placed Mize on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a strained left hamstring, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Mize tweaked his hamstring during Sunday's start against the Angels and subsequent testing revealed a strain. It's not clear what the grade of the strain is, but the Tigers anticipate the right-hander missing at least three starts. Keider Montero has taken Mize's spot on the roster and will start Wednesday in Minnesota, but the club will need an additional starter to fill in this weekend, as well, with Jack Flaherty (back) also missing a turn. • Shane Baz could join Rays rotation soon
RHP Shane Baz could join the Rays’ rotation soon.

Advice: While nothing is imminent, Baz was scratched from his Triple-A start Tuesday in case the Rays were rained out in Kansas City and he was needed for a potential doubleheader on Wednesday. That situation didn’t come to pass, but the Rays traded Aaron Civale on Wednesday opening up a spot in their rotation. Baz has a 4.12 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings in 10 starts with Triple-A Durham as he makes his comeback from Tommy John surgery. Rotoworld Today, 8:06 am
