    • Jon Gray on the 15-day IL with groin injury
Rangers placed Jon Gray (groin) on the 15-day IL.

Advice: Jon was removed from Tuesday’s start after 75 pitches with a groin injury. The team has referred to the injury as a “mild strain” and doesn’t expect him to miss more than 15 days; however, they said the same thing about Nathan Eovaldi and he’s now approaching three weeks on the IL. It might be safe to assume fantasy managers will be without Gray for three to four weeks, but he’s been pitching well enough to hold on your IL if you have spots. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Lands on IL with groin strain
The Rangers placed Gray on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right groin strain, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Gray suffered the injury in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Phillies, and an MRI revealed a mild strain. He would seem to have a good chance at returning from the IL when his 15 days are up or shortly thereafter, but it will depend on how he recovers over the next several days. Gray had been slated to start Sunday in Minnesota, but it's possible Nathan Eovaldi (groin) will be ready to return that day. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

    • Not expected to make next start
Gray isn't expected to make his next start after he was diagnosed Thursday with a mild right groin strain, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Gray was removed from his start in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Phillies because of the injury. It's not clear yet whether Gray will require a stint on the 15-day injured list, but it would seem to be a distinct possibility. He had been slated to start Sunday in Minnesota, but the Rangers might now need Jose Urena to take the ball that day. Rotowire.com Today, 7:59 am

    • Homers in third straight
McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over Oakland.

Advice: McMahon went hitless in his first four at-bats before adding a single in the ninth and a two-run homer in the top of the 12th, which would end up being the game winner. It marked the third baseman's third consecutive game with a home run and he's now up to five long balls in May to go along with 11 RBI and 12 runs scored. McMahon has also hit safely in 10 straight games. Rotowire.com Today, 4:29 am

    • Ryan McMahon blasts go-ahead homer in Oakland
Ryan McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer to lift the Rockies to a 4-3 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: McMahon had knocked a single in the ninth, then came through in a big spot in the 12th inning. With a runner on in a tie game, he took Kyle Muller deep for a go-ahead two-run blast. The 29-year-old third baseman is hitting an outstanding .306/.383/.508 with nine homers and 29 RBI across 211 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:57 pm

    • Allows five runs in loss
Steele (0-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 6.1 innings.

Advice: Steele made short work of the first six batters he faced in the contest before giving up a leadoff single to Michael Harris to open the third, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Adam Duvall. The lefty then appeared to settle in over the next three frames, but again found himself in trouble after allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the seventh. He would end up being charged with another three runs in the inning, with two coming home after he was relieved by Jose Cuas. Steele has now given up four or more runs in three consecutive starts and is still looking for his first win of the season. On a positive note, Wednesday also marked the first time this season in which he's gotten through six innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:15 pm
    • Homers in win
Bichette went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Bichette's power has been largely absent this season -- this was just his third homer of the season through 45 contests. Two of them have come over the last 10 games, a span in which he's hitting .351 (13-for-37) with seven RBI and four doubles. The shortstop is slashing a middling .233/.289/.349 with 19 RBI, 15 runs scored, four stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple through 187 plate appearances, though he's starting to turn things around. • Bo Bichette homers in win over White Sox
Bo Bichette went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 9-2 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Bichette’s numbers continue to improve after a cold start. He added two hits on Wednesday, including a two-run homer off Nick Nastrini in the second inning. He added another run for the Blue Jays in the fourth with a base hit to score Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The 26-year-old shortstop is now hitting .233/.289/.349 with three homers, 19 RBI, and four steals across 187 plate appearances. • Justin Steele surrenders five runs to Braves in loss
Justin Steele allowed five runs with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Steele had retired the first six batters before Michael Harris II led off the third inning with a base hit. Adam Duvall followed with a two-run homer to put the Braves on the board. Steele pitched into the seventh, leaving at 93 pitches with a run in, two runners on, and one out. Both inherited runners would come in to score. He struck out five on the day. The 28-year-old left-hander will take a 5.68 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 23/6 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings into a start against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm
