    • Steady in Wednesday's win
Cortes (3-4) earned the win Wednesday over the Mariners, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out six over five scoreless innings.

Advice: Cortes looks to have turned a corner, allowing just one unearned run over his last 12 innings spanning two starts. He's collected wins in both of those outings. Cortes is at a 3.29 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 63:15 K:BB through 65.2 innings over 11 starts this season. The southpaw will look to keep rolling in his next start, which is projected to be on the road versus the Angels. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:13 pm
    • Loses control in fourth
Snell didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Snell looked sharp to begin his first start after a month-long IL stint, keeping the Pirates scoreless after three frames. However, the 31-year-old crumbled in the fourth inning, yielding two walks, a hit-by-pitch and an infield single to let a run score and leave the bases loaded with one out for Sean Hjelle. Hjelle gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced and pushed Snell's earned run total to four. Snell hasn't completed five innings in a start this season and is 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA through 15.0 innings. He's projected for a home start against the Phillies on Monday. • Sparks rally Wednesday
Schneider went 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Schneider's two-run single sparked a seven-run rally for the Blue Jays in the second inning. The second baseman is up to three steals on the year, all of which have come since May 5. He's added .246/.345/.451 slash line with five home runs, 19 RBI, 20 runs scored and 10 doubles across 142 plate appearances. Schneider has hit leadoff in five straight games, with four of those games against a right-handed starting pitcher. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:54 pm

    • Homers in Wednesday's win
Abreu went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Rays.

Advice: Abreu delivered the final scoring play for the Red Sox in this contest when he took Rays reliever Kevin Kelly deep in the sixth inning. Over the last four games, Abreu has gone 6-for-15 (.400) with five RBI and three extra-base hits. The 24-year-old outfielder continues to play well in a strong-side platoon role, slashing .275/.357/.486 with five homers, 20 RBI, 22 runs scored and seven stolen bases over 157 plate appearances this season. • Nestor Cortes lasts five innings in win
Nestor Cortes pitched five scoreless innings on Wednesday against the Mariners. He scattered three hits and three walks while striking out six and earning the win.

Advice: Cortes had a tougher time in this one than the box score would suggest as the Mariners put men on base in each of the first four innings with a handful of runners in scoring position. Still, Cortes found a way to wiggle out of every jam and earned his third win of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:12 pm
    • Jorge Soler drives in three runs as Giants win
Jorge Soler went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs on Wednesday night, propelling the Giants to a 9-5 come-from-behind victory over the Pirates in extra innings.

Advice: Soler got the Giants on the board in the fifth inning with a run-scoring single off of Jared Jones, trimming their deficit to four runs at 5-1. He also plated a run with a ground ball in the eighth inning that made it 5-4. The 32-year-old slugger also added an RBI single in the 10th — extending the Giants’ lead to 7-5. He scored later in the frame on a single by Luis Matos. With his two-hit night, he’s now slashing .213/.304/.362 with five homers and 12 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:06 pm

    • Blake Snell gives up four runs in loss to Pirates
Blake Snell had mixed results in his return from the injured list on Wednesday, giving up four runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, Snell piled up five strikeouts on the evening, but he also issued four free passes. He kept the Pirates’ offense off the board through the first three frames but ran into serious trouble in the fourth. There, he loaded the bases on a pair of walks and an infield single, then plunked Andrew McCutchen to force in a run. He then turned the ball over to the bullpen — who immediately gave up a grand slam to allow all three inherited runners to score. Snell got an impressive 15 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night — nine on his heater — while posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to improve upon a cringe-inducing 11.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP when he does battle against the Phillies on Monday in San Francisco. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:06 pm
    • Wilyer Abreu homers in win
Wilyer Abreu went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, single, and walk in the Red Sox 8-5 win over the Rays on Wednesday.

Advice: Abreu scalded his home run at 107.1 MPH and has left very little doubt this season that he can hit right-handed pitchers. He’s been in the lineup against every righty since April 9th while facing just three lefties over the same span. He’s a great asset in daily leagues where you can mix and match him the same way the Red Sox do. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:44 pm
    • Austin Riley (side) hits off tee on Wednesday
Austin Riley (side) hit off of a tee without any issues on Wednesday.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger continues to progress toward a return to the Braves lineup. The next step will be to face live pitching. He has sat out each of the team’s last nine ballgames due to soreness in his side. Zack Short is once again starting at the hot corner for the Braves on Wednesday night against Justin Steele and the Cubs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:56 pm
