    • Out of Tuesday's lineup
Moore isn't in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday against the Astros.

Advice: Moore has been extremely hot at the plate lately, slashing an incredible .324/.489/.735 with three homers and seven RBI across his last 11 games. He'll get a breather against Hunter Brown and the Astros while Luke Raley, Julio Rodriguez and Dominic Canzone start across the outfield with Mitch Haniger in as the DH. Rotowire.com Today, 6:02 pm

    • Dealing with back tightness
Carter was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with lower-back tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 21-year-old missed some time in mid-May due to a back issue, and it apparently remains bothersome as the month comes to a close. Carter is without a hit in his past 20 at-bats, and the injury could help explain some of those struggles. It's unclear how long the young outfielder is expected to be sidelined, but the organization will likely want him to get some at-bats in the minors before he rejoins the big club. • Slumping Evan Carter hits IL with back tightness
Rangers placed OF Evan Carter on the 10-day injured list with a back sprain.

Advice: Carter will ostensibly swap places with fellow top prospect Wyatt Langford as he’ll get some extra time off in an effort to reset mentally after batting just .165 (15-for-91) with three homers and one steal over his last 30 contests. The 21-year-old top prospect hits the shelf in the midst of an 0-for-20 hitless streak at the dish dating back to May 10. It’s far too early to be concerned long-term with Carter, but this season has certainly been an unexpected speed bump following last year’s stellar late-season debut and playoff performance. • Headed to injured list
The Rangers will place Carter (undisclosed) on the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Carter has missed some time this month with a back issue, although it's unclear whether that's the injury that's sending him to the IL. The young outfielder is hitless over his last nine contests and has struggled mightily so far this season, slashing just .188/.272/.361. It's not clear how long Carter might be sidelined. • Climbs above .200 again
Rafaela went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Rafaela's eighth-inning double put him in position to score the winning run. He has multiple hits in two straight games and has gone 7-for-22 (.318) over the last six. That's pushed his batting average to .208, the third time he's climbed above the Mendoza Line this season. Rafaela is a bit of conundrum. He leads the Red Sox in RBI (28) and is fifth in extra-base hits (16), but he's not exactly a good hitter. Boston manager Alex Cora told Alex Speier of The Boston Globe that Rafaela has "big moves" in his swing as he tries to hit for power -- how he loads the swing, the leg kick and the swing itself. For long-term success, Cora believes Rafaela needs to shorten his swing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:45 am

    • Slump continues
Carter went 0-for-2 in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Carter's hitless run reached 20 consecutive at-bats, and he's just two for his last 38. With Wyatt Langford (hamstring) possibly set to return Tuesday, the Rangers could send Carter back down to the minors to fix whatever is not working for him right now. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:10 am

    • Kerry Carpenter out Sunday against Blue Jays
Kerry Carpenter is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: With southpaw Yusei Kikuchi on the mound, Carpenter will get a day of rest Sunday after homering in Saturday’s victory. Wenceel Perez will get the start in right field. Colt Keith also is getting the day off with Andy Ibanez starting at second base. Rotoworld Sunday, 6:47 am

    • Sitting against lefty
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Carpenter will retreat to the bench as the Tigers stock up on extra right-handed bats to counter Blue Jays southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Wenceel Perez will shift over from his usual spot in center field to cover right field in Carpenter's stead. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:21 am

    • Launches game-winning homer
Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 26-year-old slugger took Jose Berrios deep in the first inning, and while it was the only offense Detroit could muster, it was also all the team's pitching staff would need. Carpenter has found his power stroke in May, slugging five of his eight homers on the season in his last 13 games -- a stretch in which he's batting .325 (13-for-40) with 14 RBI.
