• Sitting against southpaw
Tellez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Advice: As he usually does, the lefty-hitting Tellez will retreat to the bench while the opposition brings a lefty (Tyler Anderson) to the hill. Connor Joe will replace Tellez at first base and will bat cleanup. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

  • Sitting against lefty
Suwinski is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Suwinski will retreat to the bench with southpaw Tyler Anderson taking the hill for the Angels. With Suwinski on the bench, the Pirates will run out an outfield of Bryan Reynolds, Michael Taylor and Edward Olivares from left to right. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
  • Out 4-to-6 weeks
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Monday that Murphy is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks after being diagnosed with a left knee sprain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Murphy suffered the injury during Saturday's game versus the Phillies and landed on the injured list Sunday. With Patrick Bailey (concussion) also unavailable at least for the next few days, the Giants are down to Blake Sabol and Jakson Reetz as their catching duo. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

  • Heads to bench Monday
Grandal is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Advice: After being activated from the 10-day injured list over the weekend, Grandal started behind the plate Saturday and Sunday against the Rockies, going 1-for-7 between those contests. Now that he's moved past the bout with plantar fasciitis that sidelined him from the first five weeks of the season, Grandal is expected to serve as the Pirates' No. 1 catcher, though backup Joey Bart should still factor into the equation if he continues to swing a hot bat. Bart will be behind the dish Monday while Grandal rests. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago
  • Loses roster spot
The Reds optioned Moll to Triple-A Louisville on Monday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Moll had made five scoreless appearances after coming off the injured list, but he nonetheless now finds himself without a roster spot. The Reds will make a corresponding move prior to Tuesday's game, and it will presumably be the activation of Frankie Montas (forearm), who is slated to start that day versus the Diamondbacks. • Sent back to minors
The Guardians optioned Strzelecki to Triple-A Columbus on Monday.

Advice: After being called up from Triple-A in advance of the Guardians' weekend series with the Angels, Strzelecki proceeded to make his lone appearance on Friday, when he fired two scoreless innings of relief. He'll be replaced in the Cleveland bullpen by left-hander Sam Hentges (finger), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago
  • Exits 40-man roster
Goodrum was designated for assignment by the Rays on Monday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Goodrum had been sent down to Triple-A Durham a few days ago and is now off the 40-man roster. The utility player has a career .685 OPS over parts of seven big-league seasons. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

  • Rejoins big-league bullpen
The Guardians activated Hentges (finger) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Cleveland optioned right-hander Peter Strzelecki to Triple-A Columbus to clear room in the bullpen and on the 26-man active roster for Hentges, who opened the season on the IL with left middle finger inflammation. Hentges was added back to the 26-man active roster after he wrapped up a stellar six-appearance rehab assignment between Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Akron in which he struck out seven and allowed just five baserunners over 6.2 scoreless frames. He posted a 3.61 ERA and gathered 15 holds over 56 appearances with the big club in 2023 and should slot back in as a key part of the bridge to close Emmanuel Clase. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

  • Heads to 10-day IL
The Guardians placed Kwan on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain.

Advice: Cleveland hasn't disclosed the grade of Kwan's hamstring strain, which he suffered in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels. The injury forced him to miss his second game of the season Sunday, and he'll be sidelined through at least May 14 as a result of landing on the IL. The Guardians called up prospect Kyle Manzardo from Triple-A Columbus to take over Kwan's spot on the 26-man active roster, and Manzardo should also inherit an everyday role while the 26-year-old outfielder is on the shelf. Manzardo will serve as the Guardians' designated hitter in Monday's series opener versus the Tigers and will hit seventh, while Estevan Florial will fill in for Kwan in left field and atop the batting order.
