    • Gray appears to ask out of game Monday
Sonny Gray allowed one earned run, struck out six in 5 2/3 innings, picked up the win and appeared to ask Cardinals manager Oli Marmol to remove him from the game in the Cardinals 6-3 victory over the Orioles on Monday.

Advice: We’ll have another update on Gray’s status when we know more. The win was Gray’s sixth of the season. He cruised through the first five innings. In the sixth inning, after two men reached on an errors, he allowed a three-run home run to Gunnar Henderson. Four batters later, he appeared to ask out of the game and was removed for JoJo Romero, who escaped the jam. The 34-year-old right-hander is tentatively scheduled to face the Cubs at home on Saturday.

    • Pablo López crushed for seven runs Monday in loss
Pablo López was torched for a season-high seven runs over five innings on Monday in a loss to the Nationals.

Advice: López coughed up early homers to Luis García Jr. and Jesse Winker before things came completely unraveled in the fifth inning when he surrendered run-scoring singles to Jacob Young, Joey Meneses and Garcia. He struck out five and only handed out one free pass. He’ll bring an inflated 4.72 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 63/9 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings (10 starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Rangers. Rotoworld Today, 6:45 pm

    • Shelled in loss
Lopez (4-3) took the loss Monday against Washington, allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Lopez was done in by the longball, yielding two homers in a game for the second time this season. The Minnesota right-hander entered 2024 with a career 1.1 HR/9 and now sports a 1.5 HR/9 in 55.1 innings this season. Lopez's ERA sits at 4.72, almost a full tick higher than his career 3.86 entering the season. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next start against Texas at home this weekend. • Tylor Megill fans seven in loss to Guardians
Tylor Megill was charged with three runs (two earned) over five innings on Monday in a loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Megill notched seven strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. The 28-year-old righty got into trouble right away in his return from the injured list following a seven-week absence, coughing up a two-run single to David Fry in the opening frame. He managed to settle in afterwards, limiting Cleveland to just one run over his final four innings of work. He induced 13 swinging strikes and finished with a pedestrian 26 percent CSW. He’ll face the Dodgers on Monday at Citi Field in his next outing. Rotoworld Today, 6:02 pm

    • Matt Olsen hits sixth homer against Padres
Matt Olson went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI versus the Padres in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.

Advice: Olson’s homer, a no-doubter off Dylan Cease, was his sixth of the year. That’s way off last year’s pace, but his barrel and hard-hit rates are completely intact. There’s some bad luck involved here, but it also seems to be the case that balls just aren’t traveling as far this year as they did last season. Rotoworld Today, 1:38 pm

    • Mets activate Tylor Megill from IL
Mets activated RHP Tylor Megill (shoulder) from the IL.

Advice: Megill looked good in his last rehab outing, so the Mets have deemed him ready to face the Guardians on Monday night. He has made just one start this season, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings with four strikeouts and three walks. The Mets will use a six-man rotation for the time being since they want to keep both Megill and Adrian Houser in the rotation. Rotoworld Today, 12:03 pm

    • Activated from IL ahead of start
The Mets activated Megill (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Megill is set to rejoin the Mets' rotation Monday in Cleveland after missing all of April and much of May with a right shoulder strain. He was excellent during his rehab assignment, allowing just one earned run with a 23:1 K:BB over 14 innings. Megill threw 74 pitches in his fourth and final rehab start, so he should be good for 90 or so Monday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:38 am

    • Nearing game action
Robert (hip) is still awaiting his first action at the team's complex in Glendale, Ariz., Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "We anticipate some game action later this week,'' general manager Chris Getz said. "He seems to have turned the corner and is trending well."

Advice: There was some hope that Robert would get into games in Arizona last week, but the White Sox decided not to push it. Robert missed more than three months with a similar injury in 2021, so it makes sense that the organization would take a cautious approach. While he remains without a definitive timetable to return to the majors, Robert seems to be progressing well, though at a deliberate pace. Rotowire.com Today, 5:35 am

    • Triples in two straight
Carroll went 1-for-4 with a triple, a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 6-4 win over Detroit. He was also caught stealing.

Advice: Carroll tripled to lead off the bottom of the first inning and scored the first of two Arizona runs during the frame. It was the second straight game with a triple for Carroll, who finished second in MLB last season with 10 three-baggers. He was moved back to the leadoff spot seven games ago, but it hasn't done much to break Carroll's season-long slump; he's 4-for-24 with three extra-base hits and five runs since the move and has been caught stealing twice.
