• Shut down again
Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Cobb (hip/shoulder) has paused his throwing program due to further complications with his right shoulder, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Cobb has now been pulled off his throwing program three times since the beginning of the season due to problems with his shoulder. An MRI of his shoulder came back negative in late April, but the Giants will likely want to take another look just to be absolutely certain the right-hander isn't dealing with some underlying issue. Melvin added that Cobb isn't close to returning following his latest shutdown, making it likely his absence extends well into June. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago

  • Sean Newcomb (knee) starting rehab assignment
Sean Newcomb (knee) will kick off a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with the Athletics’ Rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

Advice: Newcomb, who is currently on the 60-day injured list with left knee irritation, is working his way back from last year’s knee surgery and is expected to return as a reliever. The 30-year-old southpaw might be ready to rejoin Oakland’s bullpen in a couple weeks. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • Not starting against southpaw
Blackmon isn't in the Rockies' lineup Saturday versus the Giants.

Advice: The left-handed bat of Blackmon will stay put in Colorado's dugout while left-hander Kyle Harrison starts on the bump for San Francisco. Sean Bouchard will enter to play right field and bat sixth. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago
  • Sitting third straight
Diaz (hand) isn't in the Rockies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Left hand soreness will cause Diaz to miss his third game in a row Saturday. The Rockies haven't made any indication that the 33-year-old backstop is trending toward an IL stint, but he may have to spend time on the injured list if his condition doesn't improve within the next couple of days. Hunter Goodman will start behind the plate and bat eighth while Diaz recovers. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

  • Designated for assignment
Adcock was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Saturday.

Advice: Adcock will now be placed on waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, he'll likely remain with Triple-A Toledo. The team claimed Easton Lucas from the Athletics on Saturday and Adcock was the odd man out on the 40-man roster. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

  • Report: Josh Jung (wrist) six weeks from returning
Josh Jung (wrist) is at least six weeks away from returning, reports Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.

Advice: Ugh. Original post-surgery estimates put Jung’s potential return sometime around 10-12 weeks from the early-April procedure, but he’s progressing slower than originally anticipated. The 26-year-old slugger resumed throwing, fielding ground balls and running earlier this week, but has yet to resume swinging a bat. The -year-old third baseman is seven weeks removed from surgery, and while he hasn’t suffered any setbacks, isn’t likely to return until at least late June or early July. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

  • Claimed by Tigers, sent to Triple-A
Lucas was claimed off waivers by the Tigers and optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.

Advice: Lucas was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Thursday and he'll now join the Tigers organization. The left-hander appeared in three contests with Oakland, surrendering six runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out six batters over 3.2 innings. He'll look to impress with Toledo in order to earn a shot with Detroit's major-league roster down the road. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago
