    • Hunter Greene coughs up six runs to Pirates
      Hunter Greene allowed six runs on seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

      Advice: The game started with Greene throwing up on the mound after delivering a first-inning fastball and it didn’t get much better from there. He struck out five and walked two and his velocity was fine on the day, but he clearly wasn’t feeling 100 percent. He posted a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW, but the command wasn’t great and the Pirates were able to scratch out their runs on just one extra-base hit.     • Takes no-decision Monday
      Lorenzen allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters over five-plus innings in a no-decision against Milwaukee on Monday.

      Advice: Lorenzen fared relatively well in the outing, though he was pulled after allowing a leadoff double in the sixth inning having racked up 91 pitches. It was a relatively rare occurrence for the right-hander to get the hook that early -- coming into Monday, he had completed at least six frames in 10 of his 12 starts. Beyond eating up innings, Lorenzen has pitched quite effectively throughout the campaign, accumulating a 3.04 ERA and 1.16 WHIP despite a mediocre 55:31 K:BB through 77 frames.     • Michael Lorenzen solid for five against Brewers
      Michael Lorenzen yielded two runs in five-plus innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Brewers.

      Advice: Lorenzen and Freddy Peralta pitched to a stalemate in this one. Lorenzen struck out five and walked one while throwing 91 pitches. It’s the seventh straight start in which he’s allowed three runs or fewer, and while he didn’t go deep tonight, he’s completed six innings in five of those outing and 10 of 13 starts for the year.     • Dominates Giants
      Gray (9-4) picked up the win Sunday against San Francisco, allowing one run on one hit with no walks across seven innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Gray took a perfect game into the seventh inning before Patrick Bailey launched a solo home run with two outs. Although the Cardinals' bullpen gave up two more runs, Gray was able to claim his ninth win of 2024, his most wins in a season since 2019. The 34-year-old has completed at least seven innings in three consecutive starts and owns a 2.95 ERA along with an 11.1 K/9 across 83.1 innings.     • Sonny Gray electric in win over Giants
      Sonny Gray allowed one run on one hit in seven innings in a win over the Giants on Sunday.

      Advice: Gray also struck out eight and walked none while posting a 30 percent whiff rate and 39 percent CSW. He only made one real mistake on the day, allowing a solo home run to Patrick Bailey in the seventh inning. The Giants averaged just 81.6 mph on all balls put in play during the game, and Gray now has a 2.81 ERA heading into a start against the Reds at home next week. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:09 pm

    • Paul Skenes strong for seven against Rays
      Paul Skenes was uninvolved in the decision Sunday after allowing one run in seven innings and striking out eight against the Rays.

      Advice: The homer off the bat of Yandy Díaz led off the game. The Rays had no further luck, though, at least not until Skenes left the game to begin the eighth. It’s the first time in eight big-league starts that Skenes has gotten through seven. He still hasn’t taken a loss, and his ERA stands at 2.14. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:14 pm
       
    • Tosses career-high seven innings
      Skenes did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over seven innings against the Rays. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Skenes got off to a bit of a rough start, allowing two extra-base hits on his first four pitches, including a leadoff homer to Yandy Diaz on the first pitch of the game, but Skenes did not allow another run for the rest of his outing. The first overall pick in the 2023 Draft continues to dominate even as his workload increases, as he struck out eight over a career-high seven innings. He's now allowed just two earned runs and has struck out 23 over his last three starts spanning 19.1 innings. He also continues to display impressive control, having not walked more than one batter during any game since walking two in his first career start May 11.     • Stuck with loss Saturday
      Eflin (3-5) took the loss Saturday as the Rays were downed 4-3 by the Pirates, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Pittsburgh stung the right-hander for a run in the first inning and three more in the third, and while Eflin settled in after that, the Tampa Bay offense wasn't able to put together a comeback. Eflin's last quality start came May 7, and in six outings since then, he's stumbled to a 4.86 ERA despite a 1.17 WHIP and 24:2 K:BB in 33.1 innings.     • Dealt third loss
      Burnes (8-3) allowed four runs on five hits and struck out five without walking a batter over seven innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Astros.

      Advice: Burnes had a solid outing, but a two-run home run by Yordan Alvarez and a solo shot by Chas McCormick were too much for the Orioles to overcome. This marks the first time all year Burnes has given up multiple homers in a start -- he's yielded just 10 long balls through 16 starts. While this wasn't his best work, he's still at an excellent 2.35 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 94:24 K:BB through 99.2 innings. Burnes is projected to make his next start at home versus the Rangers.
