    • Nolan Jones (back, knee) runs bases on Tuesday
Nolan Jones (back, knee) progressed to running the bases on Tuesday at Coors Field.

Advice: Jones was pulled off a minor league rehab assignment last week due to right knee soreness, so it’s an encouraging development that he’s resumed running already. The 26-year-old should ramp-up the intensity in the coming days and could get back into minor league contests as early as Thursday with Triple-A Albuquerque. He’s been on the shelf since late April due to a lower back strain. Rotoworld Today, 3:29 pm

    • Getting breather
Melendez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Despite Kansas City facing a right-hander Tuesday, Melendez will miss the Royals starting nine. Instead, Garrett Hampson will play left field and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 12:21 pm

    • Nearing new rehab assignment
Jones (back/knee) took batting practice and completed light outfield drills prior to Monday's game, MLB.com reports.

Advice: This was significant progress for Jones, marking the first time he swung a bat since his first rehab assignment was halted when he experienced knee inflammation. The next step will be running the bases, but that could be the final benchmark before he embarks on a second rehab stint in the minors. Rotowire.com Today, 7:11 am

    • Belts 10th homer
Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Monday's loss to San Francisco.

Advice: Schwarber put the Phillies on the board in the third inning with a two-run shot off reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell. It was his fourth homer against a lefty this season, and he's now batting a lofty .333 (27-for-71) against southpaw hurlers. Overall, Schwarber's .359 OBP this season is on pace for the second-highest mark of his career. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:51 pm
    • Schwarber has home run, steal against Giants Monday
Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a two-run home run against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: The home run was Schwarber’s 10th of the season and the stolen base was his third. He’s been heating up lately as he’s 10-for-25 (.385) over his last seven games. The home run was Schwarber’s first since May 6th. His power has been down this season, but he’s been known to hit home runs in bunches. Maybe this could be the start of a hot streak for Schwarber.

    • MJ Melendez singles in Royals’ loss to Twins
MJ Melendez went 1-for-3 with a single on Monday in the Royals’ loss to the Twins.

Advice: It’s been a struggle this season at the dish for Melendez as he’s batting just .179 (27-for-151) with four homers and two steals through 47 games. Perhaps the biggest concern here is that he hasn’t connected for a home run since back on April 19. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:41 pm

    • Triples, scores in loss
Carroll went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Miami.

Advice: Arizona's offense couldn't get anything going until Carroll tripled and scored in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was the outfielder's fourth triple of the season, all coming within the last eight games. However, there's been little to celebrate for Carroll, whose .188 average and .096 ISO are miles below what they were in 2023. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:13 am
    • Corbin Carroll triples and scores in loss to Fish
Corbin Carroll tripled, walked and scored a run as the Diamondbacks fell to the Marlins on Sunday afternoon in Miami.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder smacked a one-out triple off of Calvin Faucher in the eighth inning and dashed home with the Diamondbacks’ first run on a ground ball off the bat of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. While Carroll’s bat has perked up over the past couple of weeks, he’s still slashing an anemic .188/.274/.284 on the season to go along with two homers, 17 RBI and nine stolen bases. • Hitless but makes impact
Carroll went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Carroll managed to make an impact without a hit. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk then stole a base before scoring the club's first run. An inning later, his sacrifice fly plated what turned out to be the winning run. The move back up to the top of the order hasn't shaken Carroll out of a season-opening slump. He was batting .203 as of May 5, when manager Torey Lovullo moved him back into the familiar leadoff role. Seventeen games later, Carroll's average has dipped to .186. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:20 am
