    • Notches save in return
Diaz struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Seeing his first action since serving a 10-game suspension for use of a foreign substance, Diaz hit Oneil Cruz with a pitch to begin the frame but escaped the minor jam by striking out Rowdy Tellez and getting Andrew McCutchen to ground into a double play. Diaz has had a turbulent campaign in his return from a knee injury that cost him the entire 2023 season, but he had been showing signs of turning things around prior to the suspension -- he's allowed only one run in his last six innings with a 7:0 K:BB. • Strong showing in loss
Gorman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored in Saturday's 14-6 loss to the Nationals.

Advice: The second baseman banged out the Cardinals' only extra-base hits on the afternoon. Gorman has produced multiple hits in three of five games to begin the month of July, and he appears to be shaking off a brutal slump that saw him slash .083/.151/.155 over the prior 24 games with a bloated 39.8 percent strikeout rate. • Delivers two more runs
Walker went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Padres.

Advice: Walker provided the game-winning knock with a two-run single in the top of the 10th inning. The scorching hot Walker is 15-for-30 with five home runs over the last seven contests and has knocked in 13 runners over the last six. The surge leaves him with 22 home runs (T-6th in MLB) and 64 RBI (7th). Rotowire.com Today, 5:06 am
    • Christian Walker delivers go-ahead hit vs. Padres
Christian Walker went 2-for-5 with a go-ahead two-run single in the 10th inning on Saturday in the Diamondbacks’ extra-inning victory over the Padres.

Advice: Walker put Arizona ahead in the 10th inning with a two-run single off Padres reliever Wandy Peralta. The 33-year-old veteran first baseman has homered five times since June 2 and is batting an absurd .500 (15-for-30) with five round-trippers and 13 RBI over his last seven contests. Simply put, he’s one of the hottest hitters in baseball at the moment. Rotoworld Today, 3:34 am
    • Trea Turner plates lone run in loss to Braves
Trea Turner went 1-for-4 and drove in the Phillies’ lone run in Saturday night’s loss to the Braves.

Advice: Turner got the Phillies on the board with a run-scoring single off of Spencer Schwellenbach in the third inning that plated Johan Rojas. That would be all of the offense that they could muster in the contest. The 31-year-old shortstop has been terrific when he has been on the field this season, hitting .340/.383/.505 with seven homers, 23 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 50 games. • Diaz picks up eighth save against Pirates Saturday
Edwin Diaz tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Diaz slammed the door on the Pirates to preserve a 5-2 victory for New York. The save was his eighth of the season and first since returning from a 10-game suspension for using an illegal foreign substance. The Mets had the league’s worst bullpen ERA while he was out. The team and fantasy managers are happy to see him back out there. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:32 pm
    • George Springer reaches four times in victory
George Springer scored twice and reached four times against the Mariners on Saturday.

Advice: Springer played the role of leadoff man well Saturday while picking up a couple of knocks and a pair of free passes. The outfielder has been swinging the bat far more effectively recently, but this good run still has him hitting just .221/.313/.354. It’s more than understandable to be skeptical of success for Springer — at least in a fantasy role — for the second half of 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:08 pm

    • Franciso Alvarez out Saturday with elbow soreness
Francisco Alvarez is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Pirates due to left elbow soreness.

Advice: Alvarez took a 99-mph fastball from Pirates starter Paul Skenes off his left elbow during Friday’s showdown, so it makes sense that he’s going to get some extra time to rest and recover. It’ll be Luis Torrens handling the catching duties on Saturday afternoon in his place. The 22-year-old backstop is probably fine, but it’s something to keep an eye on over the rest of the weekend. • Absent from lineup Saturday
Alvarez (elbow) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Alvarez went 1-for-3 in Friday's 14-2 loss to Pittsburgh, and he was also struck in the left elbow by a 99 mph fastball from Paul Skenes in the fourth inning, per Pat Ragazzo of SI.com. Luis Torrens will start behind home plate Saturday and bat sixth against Pirates southpaw Bailey Falter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:03 am
