      Gilbert gave up one run on three hits over six innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Saturday. He struck out four without walking a batter.

      Advice: Gilbert allowed a run in the second inning on a couple singles, a stolen base and a sacrifice fly, but that was the extent of the damage. While his efforts weren't rewarded with a win, Gilbert continued his run of strong pitching with a third consecutive quality start since his eight-run hiccup in Minnesota on May 9.     • Gilbert gives up just one run over six in no-decision
      Logan Gilbert allowed just one run in six innings while striking out four in a no-decision Saturday against the Nationals.

      Advice: It was surprising to see Gilbert done after just six innings, as he threw only 78 pitches in the contest. The right-hander gave up just three hits, and two of those were of the infield variety. Gilbert was shaky against New York on Monday, but this was much more in line with what the 27-year-old has shown for the majority of the season.     • Throws six shutout innings
      Rodon (6-2) earned the win Friday over the Padres, pitching six shutout innings while allowing three hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

      Advice: Rodon wasn't dominant, but the Padres' offense didn't find much success. This was a fourth straight quality start for the southpaw, who has won all of those outings while allowing just five runs over 24.1 innings. Rodon has had just one bad start this season -- May 2 in Baltimore, when he got tagged for six earned runs over four innings. He has a 2.95 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB over 61 innings through 11 starts on the season. The 31-year-old is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Angels in a favorable matchup.     • Carlos Rodón blanks Padres over six in victory
      Carlos Rodón blanked the Padres over six innings to pick up a win Friday.

      Advice: This was far from Rodón at his most dominant, as the left-hander only struck out two batters. It was still an effective outing for the 31-year-old, as he allowed just three hits and eliminated any traffic that San Diego put up against the southpaw. Rodón has been much more effective in 2024 — a bit of faint praise considering his struggles in 2023 — and he’s lowered his ERA to 2.95 with these shutout frames. The Yankees and fantasy managers should be pleased with what they’ve seen, even if the metrics suggest a smidgen of good luck thus far. Rotoworld Friday, 9:26 pm

      Ragans (4-3) picked up the win in Wednesday's 8-3 victory over the Tigers, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out 12.

      Advice: A clash with fellow star southpaw Tarik Skubal brought out the best in Ragans, who fanned a career-high 12 batters and generated a whopping 35 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches. The 26-year-old has reeled off 13 straight shutout innings over his last two starts, and he'll take a 3.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 76:21 K:BB through 62 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Minnesota.       Advice: Ragans held up his end of the bargain in a highly-anticipated matchup against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, limiting Detroit’s offense to just one hit and three walks over six shutout frames. The 26-year-old emerging ace generated 15 swinging strikes and a near-elite 35 percent CSW, finishing with a season-high 12 punchouts.     • Triston McKenzie gives up three homers to Mets
      Triston McKenzie gave up three runs — all of them on solo homers — over five innings Wednesday versus the Mets.

      Advice: Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil and Harrison Bader hit the homers. McKenzie averaged a season-low 89.7 mph with his fastball today, down from 91.0 previously and 92.4 mph before he hurt his elbow last year.       McKenzie did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: McKenzie didn't appear to have his best stuff Wednesday, as he'd allow three solo homers before departing with a 3-0 deficit in the sixth inning. However, the Guardians would rally for six unanswered runs in an eventual victory, sparing McKenzie the loss. Still, it's the first time in seven starts that McKenzie's allowed more than two earned runs -- he came into the day with a 2.10 ERA over his prior six outings. Overall, the 26-year-old right-hander sports a 3.44 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB over 10 starts (52.1 innings) this season.       Advice: Gilbert coughed up two runs in the first inning but was still able to settle in for a quality start. He produced a stellar 1.69 ERA through his first seven starts but has seen that climb to 3.20 after allowing 14 runs over his last 16.2 frames. On the bright side, two of those outings were quality starts. Gilbert recorded only one strikeout with five whiffs, with both setting new season lows.
