• Ready for rehab assignment
Bubic (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with the Royals' Arizona Complex League affiliate on Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bubic is working his way back from last April's Tommy John surgery and is finally ready to pitch in games again. It's possible he could be ready to rejoin the big club in early June after his 30-day rehab window expires, but Bubic does have options left so the Royals could keep him in the minors indefinitely if he doesn't look ready. • Starts up rehab assignment
Puk (shoulder) made the second appearance of his rehab assignment with the Marlins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Monday, striking out two over a scoreless inning.

Advice: Puk has turned in identical two-strikeout perfect innings in the FCL since he started up his rehab assignment Friday. The left-hander broke camp as a member of the Miami rotation, but after turning in a 9.22 ERA and 2.63 WHIP over his four starts before landing on the injured list April 20 with shoulder fatigue, he'll work out of the bullpen once the Marlins activate him. Puk could settle into a high-leverage role in front of closer Tanner Scott right away upon his return to the big club. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • Outrighted to Triple-A
Gutierrez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Francys Romero of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gutierrez had the ability to decline the outright assignment and elect free agency, but he decided not to do so and will remain in the organization. The right-hander figures to join Worcester's rotation. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago
  • Logan O’Hoppe returns from hand injury Monday
Logan O’Hoppe (hand) is back in the starting lineup Monday against the Pirates.

Advice: O’Hoppe missed a couple of games with a contusion on his hand. He’ll hit hit fifth and be the starting catcher for the Halos against Mitch Keller and the Bucs. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
  • Remains in organization
Reyes cleared waivers and was outright to Triple-A Worcester by the Red Sox on Monday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Reyes no longer has a spot on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization as utility depth. He's put up just a .183/.234/.217 batting line over 61 plate appearances with the big club in 2024. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

Cardinals transferred Tommy Edman from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

  • Next outing will be at Triple-A
Pirates manager Derek Shelton said Monday that Skenes is scheduled to make another start with Triple-A Indianapolis this week, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Skenes' last start with Indianapolis was his first this season on regular rest, and he wasn't as dominant as he had been, yielding two runs on three hits and a 4:2 K:BB over 4.1 innings. He threw 66 pitches in the outing. The top prospect's major-league debut should be coming sooner rather than later, but the Pirates have opted to give him at least one more start in the minors. Skenes boasts a 0.99 ERA and 45:8 K:BB across 27.1 frames in 2024. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Giovanny Gallegos (shoulder) placed on 15-day IL
Cardinals placed RHP Giovanny Gallegos on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

Advice: Gallegos failed to record an out while surrendering three earned runs on three hits in his last appearance, and it appears the shoulder played a factor in that struggle. He’ll miss the next two weeks at least, but it could be a longer stay based on what usually happens with shoulder injuries. Chris Raycroft is up to take Gallegos’ place on the roster.
