• Gets positive news from specialist
Manager Bruce Bochy stated Monday that Eovaldi isn't dealing with a sports hernia and should be cleared to return after serving the 15-day minimum on the injured list, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: The Rangers initially believed that Eovaldi wouldn't be forced to miss more than the required 15 days, and this report was confirmed after the right-hander visited a specialist Monday. The 34-year-old will tentatively be cleared to return sometime during his club's upcoming series against the Angels, which runs from May 17 through May 19. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • José Ureña could start Wednesday for Rangers
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that José Ureña could start one of the doubleheader games for the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: Whether Ureña will be able to start one of those games will depend on if they need to use the right-hander out of the bullpen. The right-hander will be facing one of the weaker lineups on paper, but it would be a mistake to trust him as a streaming option based on his lack of success at the highest level in that role over the last couple of years. • Eovaldi (groin) gets ‘good news’ from specialist
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that Nathan Eovaldi (groin) received “good news” during his visit with a specialist.

Advice: In particular, Eovaldi does not have a sports hernia. The right-hander was placed on the injured list Friday with a right groin strain, and he visited with the specialist Monday in New York. Bochy believes Eovaldi could be off the injured list right-around when he’s eligible, and that would put him back in the rotation for Texas around May 18. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Officially activated
Buehler (elbow) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Monday's start against the Marlins.

Advice: As expected, Buehler will toe the rubber Monday evening in his first MLB action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2022. He cruised through five innings April 30 during his final rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City, surrendering one run while fanning five batters, but even so, expect the club to keep a close eye on the right-hander's pitch count in the series opener. • Zack Wheeler fans 11 in shutting down Giants
Zack Wheeler fanned 11 and yielded only an unearned run over seven innings as the Phillies bested the Giants 6-1 on Monday.

Advice: Wheeler got 16 of his 19 missed swings on fastballs and sinkers today and wound up with an excellent 40% CSW. He’s the easy NL Cy Young favorite at this point, having opened up 4-3 with a 1.64 ERA and a 63/13 K/BB ratio in 49 1/3 innings. His 32.1% strikeout rate would easily top his previous career best of 29.1% in 2021. Rotoworld Today, 4:07 pm

  • Works in long relief Sunday
Spence struck out five over 4.2 innings of relief in Sunday's 12-3 loss to the Marlins, giving up four earned runs on six hits and one walk.

Advice: Spence entered the game in the second inning after starter Joe Boyle was blasted for four runs in the opening frame before being pulled from the contest. Oakland placed Boyle on the 15-day injured list Monday with a back issue, so his absence will create an opening in the rotation. Given that he tossed a season-high 72 pitches in long relief Sunday, Spence should be reasonably stretched out for starting duty, though it's unclear if he'll rate as the Athletics' top option to take Boyle's next turn in the rotation, which comes up next weekend in Seattle. • Walker Buehler (elbow) activated for start vs. MIA
Dodgers activated RHP Waker Buehler off the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Buehler will get a chance to make his first start in 20 months after recovering from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander was up to 75 pitches in rehab starts, and he should be able to work the necessary five innings to qualify for a potential win. Fantasy managers should absolutely give Buehler a chance if he’s still on the waiver wire. Rotoworld Today, 3:04 pm

  • Jakob Junis (shoulder/head) transferred to 60-day IL
Brewers transferred Jakob Junis (shoulder/head) to the 60-day injured list from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Junis now won’t be able to return to the Brewers until the start of June. The 31-year-old is battling a shoulder impingement and was also struck in head by a ball in batting practice. Rotoworld Today, 2:36 pm

  • Drops appeal, serving five-game ban
Peralta dropped his appeal of a five-game suspension and will be begin serving the ban Monday.

Advice: Peralta was handed the suspension for intentionally throwing at the Rays' Jose Siri in an 8-2 win over Tampa Bay last Tuesday. The right-hander was ejected from that contest, but after appealing the five-game ban, Peralta took the hill Sunday on normal rest and was dealt the loss in the Brewers' series finale with the Cubs. With Peralta ending his appeal, he won't be able to make his next turn through the rotation that would have fallen Friday versus the Cardinals, though he could make his next start as soon as Saturday. The Brewers are likely to either call up Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville to start Friday, or the team will treat Friday's contest as a bullpen day. Rotowire.com Today, 2:35 pm
