• Coughs up four homers
Musgrove (3-3) allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Advice: Musgrove was cursed by the long ball Friday. He gave up a leadoff shot to Kyle Schwarber to begin the game before Philadelphia crushed three more homers during a four-run third inning. Musgrove is still searching for some consistency and his ERA has shot up to 6.94 through seven starts (35 innings). While he's struck out more than five batters just one time in 2024, he set a new season best by forcing 15 whiffs Friday, including seven with the slider. Musgrove will carry a lackluster 27:13 K:BB into his next outing, which is projected to be at home against the Reds. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

  • Dealing with hamstring spasms
Manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Gallen was removed from his start against the Mariners due to spasms in his right hamstring, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Diamondbacks will continue to monitor Gallen's condition, but the expectation is that he will be fine and may not even have to miss his next start -- tentatively slated for Wednesday. The right-hander surrendered three earned runs across five-plus innings before exiting early in the sixth frame, giving him a 3.38 ERA through his first six starts. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Punches out 10 in win
Nola (4-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over eight innings Friday, striking out 10 and earning a win over the Padres.

Advice: Nola was terrific Friday, posting his first double-digit strikeout game since July 4, 2023. He threw 74 of 106 pitches for strikes and forced 14 whiffs in the victory. The veteran righty had yielded just one run through six frames before Graham Pauley's two-run shot in the seventh inning. Since coughing up six earned runs in his season debut, Nola has posted a stifling 1.29 ERA with a 33:10 K:BB over his last five starts (35 innings). He'll carry a 3.23 ERA into his next appearance, which is projected to be on the road against the Angels next week. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Goes seven innings in second win
Stone (2-1) earned the win Friday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Stone was impressive Friday, holding Toronto to one run on Danny Jansen's fourth-inning homer while the Dodgers' offense provided plenty of support in the eventual 12-2 victory. The 25-year-old right-hander's held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his last three outings, lowering his ERA to 4.68 with a 1.44 WHIP and 18:12 K:BB across five starts (25 innings) this season. He's currently slated for a tough home matchup versus Atlanta in his next outing. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

  • Emerson Hancock holds D-Backs to one run over six
Emerson Hancock gave up just two hits and one run in six innings to pick up a win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Hancock walked two, but he was able to erase any threats with four strikeouts and three double plays. It’s another strong start for the 24-year-old, and outside of one disaster against the Brewers, he’s been an effective option. The question is whether he’s been effective enough to hold off Bryan Woo (elbow), who isn’t far away from returning. He’ll definitely be back on the mound Wednesday against Atlanta. • Rough night vs. LA
Bassitt (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Dodgers, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Bassitt allowed a solo home run to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning before imploding in the third, where he allowed another six runs on six hits, with the big blow coming on a Max Muncy three-run homer. It's been a rocky start to the year for the 35-year-old Bassitt -- his ERA is up to 5.64 with a 1.85 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB across six starts (30.1 innings). He'll look to right the ship in his next outing, currently slated for next week against Kansas City. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

  • Picks up win
Hancock (3-2) yielded a run on two hits and two walks over six innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over Arizona.

Advice: Hancock turned in five scoreless frames before a solo shot by Kevin Newman in the sixth inning finally put the Diamondbacks on the board. Hancock has now turned in three consecutive quality starts; during that stretch, he's allowed just four earned runs over 18 innings, lowering his season ERA to 5.06 through 26.2 innings. Hancock is currently lined up for a tough home matchup with Atlanta next week. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago

  • Solid against Baltimore
Stripling did not factor into the decision Friday against the Orioles, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Stripling was sharp against a hot Orioles offense, eventually winding up with a no-decision to end a stretch of five straight losses to open the year. The veteran right-hander lowered his ERA to 4.98 with a 1.49 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB through six starts (34.1 innings) this season. Stripling will look for his first win in his next start, currently slated for next week against the Pirates. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

  • Zac Gallen leaves start with hamstring tightness
Zac Gallen was pulled from Friday evening’s start against the Mariners mid at-bat in the sixth inning due to tightness in his right hamstring.

Advice: With as bad as it looked initially on the field, it’s actually encouraging that it’s not an elbow, shoulder or oblique issue that the 28-year-old right-hander is dealing with. The severity of the injury still isn’t known, but there’s a possibility that he may not even require a trip to the injured list. A lot will probably depend on how he wakes up feeling on Saturday, but for now fantasy managers and Diamondbacks’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
