    • Strong outing wasted
Severino came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 7-2 extra-inning loss to the Giants, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander pitched well enough to secure his third win of the season and left the mound with the Mets nursing a 2-1 lead, but Edwin Diaz blew another save in the ninth inning before the Mets' bullpen fell apart completely in the 10th. Severino settled for his fourth quality start instead, but he's been producing solid numbers in 2024 despite a 10.6 percent walk rate that would be the highest of his career if he can't rein it in. He'll take a 3.22 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 50:26 K:BB through 58.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Today, 4:07 am
    • Fares well in road start
Nola allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Saturday.

Advice: Nola turned in his third straight quality start, which was his seventh such outing this year. He left the game on the hook for the loss, but the Phillies rallied ahead in the ninth inning. Nola has allowed six runs (four earned) over his last 22 innings, giving him a 3.04 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 65:20 K:BB through 71 innings across 11 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Cardinals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:05 pm

    • Nola strikes out five in no-decision Saturday
Aaron Nola allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings and got a no-decision in the Phillies’ 8-4 victory over the Rockies on Saturday.

Advice: Nola pitched fairly well, but left the game with a 3-2 deficit so he didn’t qualify for the win in this one. He had won his previous two starts. Nola allowed five hits, two walks and struck out five. His ERA is now 3.04 on the season. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cardinals at home next week.

    • Snags win Saturday
McArthur (2-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit over two innings, earning the extra-innings win over the Rays on Saturday.

Advice: McArthur gave up a two-out RBI double in the 10th inning that tied the game at 4-4, but the Royals took the lead for good in the 11th. May hasn't been an easy month for McArthur, who has given up eight runs (six earned) over 10 innings while converting four of his six save chances. He's at a 3.80 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB over 23.2 innings while adding 11 saves in 14 chances and one hold. McArthur's role as the Royals' primary closer isn't in doubt yet, but it's possible Carlos Hernandez could be a factor in the late innings eventually after recovering from a shoulder injury that kept him out for the first two months of the campaign. • Rehab start could come next week
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that there's a chance Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment as soon as this coming week, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Cole threw a live batting practice session Saturday without issue, which was the second time he's faced hitters since he resumed a throwing program. It sounds like he could be asked to throw another live BP, but beginning a rehab assignment also appears to be on the table. Cole will need multiple rehab starts before rejoining the Yankees' rotation, so he's still a few weeks away even if all goes well. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:46 pm

    • Luis Severino allows one run over seven in no-decision
Luis Severino allowed one run with six strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: Severino was excellent on Saturday, working five hitless innings against the Giants before a walk and two base hits brought a run in to score in the sixth. He completed one more scoreless inning, striking out six batters over seven frames. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 3.22 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 50/26 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings into a start against the Diamondbacks in New York on Thursday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:51 pm
    • Sharp in first win of 2024
Olson (1-5) picked up the win in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Blue Jays, allowing just an unearned run on three hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Kerry Carpenter launched a two-run homer in the first inning, and it proved to be all the offense that Olson and the Tigers' bullpen would need. The right-hander generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 93 pitches, and while the win was his first of the season, the quality start was his fifth in 10 outings. Olson will take a 1.92 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 47:19 K:BB through 56.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Boston. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:31 pm
    • Idle Saturday
Arozarena isn't in the Rays' lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.

Advice: After an 0-for-4 performance Friday to continue his prolonged slump, Arozarena will sit down Saturday while Richie Palacios, Jose Siri and Jonny DeLuca start in the outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:52 pm

    • Reese Olson earns first win Saturday vs. Blue Jays
Reese Olson allowed one run -- zero earned -- with four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Olson looked outstanding after leaving his previous start early after taking a comebacker to the hip. He worked around a bases-loaded jam in the fifth to keep the Blue Jays scoreless. A walk and an error put two runners on with one out in the seventh before Olson was relieved by Alex Faedo, who allowed one inherited runner to score. The Tigers would hold on to the lead to give Olson his first win of the season despite an excellent 1.92 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 47/19 K/BB ratio across 56 1/3 innings. He’s in line for a start against the Red Sox in Boston on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:21 pm
