• Sal Frelick reaches five times in blowout win
Sal Frelick went 3-for-4 and scored three runs in a blowout win over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Felich reached five times Friday, and he also drove in a run. The 24-year-old has swung the bat well as of late, and this makes seven hits over his last five games to see his average rise to .266 from .242 in the process. Frelick won’t hit for much power, but he has a chance to be a helper in a few categories even without hitting the ball over the fence. Rotoworld Today, 9:06 pm

  • MJ Melendez goes 0-for-4 in loss to Padres
MJ Melendez finished 0-for-4 while his teammates were combining to score eight runs Friday against the Padres.

Advice: Melendez will likely turn this around if the Royals stick with him long enough, but at this point, sending him down for 2-3 weeks would make sense. He’s sitting at .172/.233/.337 for the season. Drew Waters wouldn’t necessarily be a better bet, but at least he’d improve the defense in left if given a shot. Rotoworld Today, 9:00 pm

  • Slugs fifth homer
Larnach went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-1 win over the Astros.

Advice: Larnach drew his fourth consecutive start hitting leadoff, as he appears to have secured that role against right-handed starters for the Twins. The 27-year-old outfielder launched a 401-foot home run off Ronel Blanco in fifth inning, extending Minnesota's lead to 4-1. Overall, Larnach is slashing .268/.327/.443 in 107 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:39 pm

  • Seth Brown strikes out four times in loss
Seth Brown struck out all four times he was up in Friday’s loss to the Braves.

Advice: It’s probably about time for the A’s to give up on Brown. He was a solid role player in 2021 and ’22, but his slugging fell off last year, and his exit velocity numbers have really slipped while he’s hit .201/.242/.329 this season. Lawrence Butler seems like a better option in his spot. Rotoworld Today, 7:25 pm

  • Joc Pederson hits late three-run homer
Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored in a loss to the Mets on Friday.

Advice: Pederson’s ninth inning home run off Reed Garrett made this game much hairier than it probably should have been, but still wasn’t enough to fuel the Diamondback’s comeback. He’s had a great season to this point with a .952 OPS and seven home runs. Rotoworld Today, 7:11 pm

  • Jesús Sánchez homers, doubles twice for Marlins
Jesús Sánchez homered, doubled twice and walked Friday in leading the Marlins to an 8-2 defeat of the Rangers.

Advice: Finally. Sánchez increased his extra-base hit total by 50% tonight, going from six to nine. Statcast thinks he’s been one of the league’s unluckiest hitters and his hard-hit rate and strikeout rates are both better than his career norms, so odds are that his .657 OPS will continue to climb. Still, it’s going to be hard for him to be useful in mixed leagues while being platooned in a bad lineup. Rotoworld Today, 7:02 pm

  • Outrighted to Triple-A
McKenna cleared waivers Friday and was sent outright to Triple-A Sacramento, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: McKenna was DFA'd for the second time this season Tuesday, though he will clear waivers this time around and remain within the Giants organization. The 27-year-old outfielder put up a .244/.333/.444 slash line with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate, but he would likely have to further improve upon those numbers before drawing consideration for a return to San Francisco. • Giants outright Ryan McKenna to Triple-A
Giants sent OF Ryan McKenna outright to Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: The 27-year-old outfielder passed through waivers unclaimed and accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento. He’ll continue to function as excess outfield depth for the Giants until he’s called upon once more. Rotoworld Today, 3:38 pm

  • Late addition to Friday's lineup
Ibanez will start at second base and bat seventh against the Red Sox on Friday.

Advice: Ibanez was initially slated to sit Friday, but he was inserted into the lineup after Mark Canha was scratched due to left hip soreness. Ibanez will go up against Boston right-hander Tanner Houck. Rotowire.com Today, 3:22 pm
