    • Lars Nootbaar leads Cardinals past Red Sox
Lars Nootbaar homered, walked twice and scored three runs as the Cardinals bested the Red Sox 10-6 on Friday.

Advice: The Cardinals offense is bad, but Nootbaar is good, and the decision to drop him to the bottom of the order earlier this month was yet another poor one from Oli Marmol. Fortunately, Nootbaar is back batting second versus righties now. The homer was his fourth in 131 plate appearances. He’s hitting .300 with three homers and a 6/10 K/BB in his last nine games. • Kerry Carpenter drives in four in blowout win
Kerry Carpenter drove in four runs while going 2-for-5 in a blowout win Friday over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Carpenter tripled in two runs in the third and doubled home a pair more in the fifth. The 26-year-old has plated 22 runs in 44 games for the Tigers — a pace of 81 for the season — while hitting .276 with an .848 OPS. You can do a lot worse. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:23 pm
    • Racks up four RBI
Carpenter went 2-for-5 with a triple, a double, four RBI and one run scored in Friday's 13-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Carpenter knocked in two runs with a third-inning triple and added a two-run double to cap a six-run rally in the fifth. The outfielder has gone 9-for-26 (.346) with seven extra-base hits and seven RBI over his last seven contests. That's put him at a .276/.328/.520 slash line with five home runs, 22 RBI, 15 runs scored, nine doubles and three triples through 41 contests as one of the Tigers' most productive hitters this season. • Homers, scores three runs
Nootbaar went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, two walks and three runs scored in Friday's win over Boston.

Advice: Nootbaar opened the scoring with a two-run shot in the first inning. He later drew a pair of walks and scored each time. After a 21-game homerless drought, he's gone deep three times in his last nine games. He's up to four home runs with 12 runs scored and 14 RBi through 131 plate appearances. • Absent from lineup
Nootbaar is not in Tuesday's lineup versus the Angels.

Advice: Tuesday will mark Nootbaar's first day off since making a delayed season debut April 12 after a stint on the injured list due to fractured ribs. Brendan Donovan, Mike Siani and Dylan Carlson make up the starting outfield for the Cardinals on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:55 pm

    • On bench Tuesday
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: The left-handed Carpenter will avoid a matchup with southpaw Ryan Weathers on Tuesday, as Wenceel Perez, Matt Vierling and Mark Canha will start across the outfield. Carpenter has hit safely in five straight games, batting 7-for-18 (.389) with two homers and five runs scored. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:05 pm
    • Three-run homer in loss
Castellanos went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Castellanos took Miami starter Braxton Garrett deep for a three-run shot in the top of the first inning, giving the Phillies an early 3-0 lead. The long ball was his fourth of the season and second homer in his last three contests. Castellanos has now secured at least one hit in eight consecutive games, batting .322 with two home runs, seven RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base over 31 at-bats during that stretch. • Racks up three hits
Nootbaar went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Nootbaar was one of five Cardinals with multiple hits in the contest, but it still wasn't enough to break the team out of its skid. The outfielder has gone 8-for-35 (.229) in May, adding four RBI and three extra-base hits in that span. He's still struggling overall with a .198/.294/.354 slash line through 110 plate appearances. Nootbaar has added three home runs, two stolen bases, 11 RBI and eight runs scored, and he appears to have a near-everyday role in the outfield since most of the rest of the Cardinals aren't hitting much better than he is. • Goes deep twice in victory
Carpenter went 2-for-5 with two homers and three total RBI against Houston in an 8-2 win Saturday.

Advice: Carpenter capped a seven-run second inning for Detroit with a two-run shot to right field and added a solo homer in the fourth. The pair of long balls snapped an 18-game homerless stretch for the outfielder, who belted 20 home runs in his first full MLB season last year. Saturday's multi-homer game was the third of Carpenter's career. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:24 pm
