  • George Kirby allows just unearned run in win
    George Kirby didn’t allow an earned run while working six innings to get a win over the Rangers on Saturday.

    Advice: He did allow an unearned run, and it’s worth pointing out he was the one who made the error. Kirby walked two, which makes this the first game since March 29 that the right-hander has walked more than one hitter in a game. The right-hander made up for it by striking out six in another strong start for the 26-year-old. Kirby has now allowed just four runs in his last four starts, and his ERA has lowered to 3.54, and his career ERA against Texas is a sparkling 1.08.   • Nathan Eovaldi goes just three in loss to Mariners
    Nathan Eovaldi lasted just three innings while allowing four runs with six strikeouts in a loss to the Mariners on Saturday.

    Advice: Eovaldi needed 75 pitches to get through the three frames, and the Rangers called it a day for the 34-year-old after he completed that frame. he allowed four walks and allowed four hits, including a two-run homer to Julio Rodríguez. A rare off-night for Eovaldi, who still has a solid 3.15 ERA even with this disappointing — and not disastrous — effort. He’s scheduled to face the Royals next weekend. Rotoworld Today, 7:05 pm
     
  • Charlie Morton has vintage performance in win
    Charlie Morton allowed one run on three hits in six innings in a win over the Rays on Saturday.

    Advice: Morton looked like his old self, striking out eight and walking two. He induced 22 whiffs on 49 swings for a ridiculous 45 percent whiff rate and 35 percent CSW.   • Exits early with triceps tightness
    Yamamoto was pulled from Saturday's start against the Royals with triceps tightness. He allowed one hit and one walk with one strikeout across two scoreless innings before being removed.

    Advice: Yamamoto was initially scheduled to start Thursday but had the outing pushed back for rest purposes, though after Saturday's yank it seems possible the rookie was dealing with some sort of issue. Yamamoto saw his fastball velocity dip to as low as 92.9 miles per hour before being removed, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Michael Grove will take over on the mound for the Dodgers.   • Ryan Pepiot undone by HRs against Atlanta
    Ryan Pepiot allowed five runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Braves on Saturday.

    Advice: Pepiot allowed seven hard-hit baseballs on the day and three home runs which accounted for seven runs. The right-hander did produce a 26 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW which helped him strike out four. However, he also walked three in what was an uneven effort overall. His first season in Tampa has not gone as smoothly as hoped. While he has flashed upside, he also has a 4.57 ERA but he has a good chance to turn that around next week against the Pirates.   • José Quintana spins gem against Padres
    José Quintana allowed one run on two hits in six innings in a win over the Padres on Saturday.

    Advice: Both of Quintana’s hits allowed were for extra bases, but he was able to avoid damage apart from the solo home run to Jackson Merrill. The left-hander induced eight whiffs on 31 swings for a 26 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. The Padres only had an average exit velocity on contact of 85 mph, as Quintana kept them off the barrel all day. He now has a 4.98 ERA and is not a recommended start next week against the Cubs.   • Mazur can’t escape 4th in loss to Mets
    Adam Mazur allowed two runs on three hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

    Advice: Mazur struck out four but walked six on the day. The 23-year-old had just a 43 percent zone rate overall while posting a 23 percent CSW. He’s now walked 13 batters in 12 2/3 innings to start his MLB career which is not exactly ideal. He now has a 7.82 ERA and is no guarantee to make his next start with Yu Darvish close to being activated. Rotoworld Today, 6:10 pm
     
  • Spencer Arrighetti roughed up by Tigers
    Spencer Arrighetti allowed seven runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday.

    Advice: The Astros moved Arrighetti’s start up a day when Justin Verlander was scratched with an injury and that may have been the wrong move. The 24-year-old had allowed just two earned runs over 14 2/3 innings in his last three starts and had a 15.3 percent K-BB rate and 11.4 percent swinging strike rate over his last four starts. Yet, nothing worked for him on Saturday. He couldn’t find the plate with anything other than his cutter and induced just three whiffs on 20 swings for a 15 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. It’s possible the late change in schedule threw him off, but whatever it was, he remains off the streaming radar next week against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 5:08 pm

    Arrighetti will draw the start in Saturday's matchup with the Tigers, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

    Advice: Arrighetti was originally set to start Sunday's series finale, but with Justin Verlander (undisclosed) being a late scratch, Arrighetti will have his start pushed up a day. The 24-year-old has produced a 1.23 ERA with 18 strikeouts over 14.2 innings in his last three outings and he'll look to keep it up against Detroit. Rotowire.com Today, 9:09 am
