• Jake Cronenworth playing 2B for Padres on Thursday
Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers. • Four hits including first homer
Arraez went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: The 27-year-old led off the game with his first homer of the season as he produced his seventh straight multi-hit performance. Arraez has been raking since being traded to the Padres, slashing .391/.425/.478 in 73 plate appearances, and with Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) facing a lengthy absence, he should be locked in as San Diego's everyday second baseman. • Homers in loss
Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Alonso opened the scoring in the first inning, sending a fastball from Triston McKenzie into the right-field seats for his 11th homer of the year. The 29-year-old Alonso has put together an eight-game hitting streak while going 18-for-59 (.305) with three homers and a .936 OPS in his last 14 contests. He's now slashing .236/.313/.466 with 24 RBI and 28 runs scored through 214 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:28 am
  • Begins rehab assignment
Sano (knee) went 1-for-2 with a single and a strikeout in his first rehab game with the Arizona Complex League Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Sano is recovering from left knee inflammation, an injury which has kept him on the shelf for the entirety of May. He will eventually move up to a higher affiliate as he works his way back to the Angels' active roster. Sano was getting regular playing time before getting hurt and that should continue when he returns, especially with all the injuries the Halos are dealing with. Rotowire.com Today, 6:30 am

  • Goes deep in win
Olson went 2-for-5 in Wednesday's win over the Cubs with a solo home run.

Advice: Olson launched a two-out, solo homer in the top of the seventh to extend Atlanta's lead to seven runs, giving the first baseman his fourth long ball this month and seventh overall on the season. The veteran first baseman also added a single on the night, marking his ninth multi-hit performance of the campaign and fifth in his last nine games. He's now hit safely in eight of his last 10 contests, tallying three homers and eight RBI over that stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 3:54 am

  • Christian Walker homers in win over Dodgers
Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a double, and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker led off the sixth inning with a solo homer off Elieser Hernández to extend the Diamondbacks’ lead. He later doubled in the eighth and scored on a passed ball. The 33-year-old first baseman is pacing right in line with his 2023 season, hitting .257/.358/.458 with 10 homers and 32 RBI across 215 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:02 pm
  • Gets aboard six times Wednesday
Wade went 3-for-3 with three walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

Advice: This was Wade's first three-hit game of the year, as well as his second three-walk effort. It's arguably the best example of what he's brought to the table in 2024 -- decent contact hitting and remarkable patience at the plate. Wade is batting .340 with a 19:12 BB:K over 19 games in May. For the season, the first baseman is at a .336/.484/.431 slash line with two home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, five doubles and one stolen base over 153 plate appearances. Wade briefly saw a full-time role earlier in the month when Jorge Soler was on the injured list, but since Soler's return, Wade has returned to a strong-side platoon with Wilmer Flores at first base. • Matt Olson slugs solo homer against Cubs
Matt Olson went 2-for-5 with a solo homer against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Olson is having a much better month at the plate after a cold start in April, with multiple hits in five of his last nine games. He sent one over the fence in this one, taking Jose Cuas deep for a solo homer in the seventh inning. The 30-year-old slugger is hitting .228/.325/.415 with seven homers and 26 RBI across 197 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:09 pm

  • LaMonte Wade Jr. reaches six times in victory
LaMonte Wade Jr. had an impressive night at the dish in Wednesday’s victory over the Pirates, going 3-for-3 with three singles, three walks, a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

Advice: The 30-year-old outfielder led off the sixth inning with a single and rode home on Matt Chapman’s two-run blast. He then delivered the biggest hit of the game, smacking a game-tying two-out RBI single off of Colin Holderman in the ninth inning. With his three-hit attack, Wade is now hitting .336/.484/.431 with a pair of homers, 16 RBI and a stolen base. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:06 pm
