The 30-year-old has a 4.11 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in eight starts while registering 36 strikeouts and 13 walks in 46 innings. There’s no set timeline yet for how long he’ll be out, but his right foot handles all his body weight during his leg lift on his windup, so he’ll need to make sure it’s fully healed before he returns to the mound.     Nimmo (intercostal) will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's game versus the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Nimmo didn't start Sunday's 4-3 win over Atlanta due to right intercostal irritation, but he entered the contest off the bench and eventually clubbed a walk-off, two-run home run in his lone plate appearance.     Connor Wong is starting behind the plate and batting third for the Red Sox on Monday against the Rays.

    Advice: Wong has hit as high as second this season but only against left-handed pitching, so having him hit third with Rafael Devers and Tyler O’Neill both in the lineup is surprising. The Red Sox are clearly looking to spark some offense, and Wong is hitting .364/.417/.500 in six games in May with just a 21% strikeout rate, so Boston is looking to see if his hot bat can spark their offense. He'll cede first base to Dominic Smith on Monday, but Cooper still looks to be locked into a near-everyday role for the Red Sox until Triston Casas (rib) returns from the injured list.     Orioles optioned OF Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A Norfolk.

    Advice: Well, now we have the corresponding roster move for the Kyle Stowers promotion. Kjerstad got just 17 plate appearances in this stint in the big leagues, going 2-for-14 with six strikeouts and two walks. It’s likely the Orioles simply wanted him to go back to the minors to get everyday at-bats. Stowers is hitting just .240 in Triple-A; although, he does have 11 home runs, but as a 26-year-old, the Orioles likely feel more comfortable with him operating as a strictly bench bat.     Advice: Baltimore cleared room on the 26-man active roster for Stowers by optioning outfielder/first baseman Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Stowers, 26, is joining the big club for the first time this season, but he saw action with the Orioles during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns and owns a collective .207/.267/.331 in 131 career big-league plate appearances. He'll likely serve as a depth outfielder while he's up with the Orioles and could be sent back to Triple-A once Austin Hays (calf) is ready to return from the injured list. He made just four starts during his 17-game stay in the majors, recording a pair of base hits and two walks over 17 plate appearances. The Orioles remain at close to full health in the infield and outfield and don't have an opening in the lineup for Kjerstad at the moment, so the 25-year-old will move back to Norfolk so that he can play on an everyday basis.
