• Won't be activated Monday
Astros manager Joe Espada said that McCormick (hamstring) will not be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Monday's game versus the Angels, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: However, McCormick is with the Astros at Minute Maid Park and will go through a pregame workout. His activation will come "soon," per Espada, with Tuesday seeming like a distinct possibility. McCormick has been out for all of May with a right hamstring injury. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

  • Sam Haggerty ruptures Achilles in Triple-A
Sam Haggerty is out for the year after suffering a ruptured Achilles in a Triple-A game.

Advice: Haggerty was hurt Saturday while trying to make a catch in center and planting his foot in the padded wall. The utilityman had been demoted from the majors just three days earlier. He’s a lifetime .232/.312/.351 hitter in parts of six seasons in the majors. Rotoworld Today, 1:56 pm

  • Out with torn Achilles
Haggerty was diagnosed with a torn Achilles on Monday and will miss the rest of the 2024 season, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. He was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.

Advice: The 29-year-old was optioned to Tacoma last week but suffered the injury over the weekend in just his second game back with the affiliate. Haggerty went 1-for-15 during a brief run in the big leagues this season and will likely be sidelined for the start of the 2025 campaign. Rotowire.com Today, 1:41 pm

  • Taking seat Monday
Velazquez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Velazquez had started seven of the last eight contests but will begin this one on the bench. Salvador Perez will be the designated hitter, Hunter Renfroe will start in right field and Freddy Fermin will be at catcher. Rotowire.com Today, 12:50 pm
  • Winker hitting 3rd for Nationals on Monday
Jesse Winker is in the lineup and hitting third on Monday against the Twins.

Advice: Winker was shaken up after making a catch the other day, but he will not miss any time. Not only is he in the lineup, but he’s hitting third after mostly hitting seventh or eighth previously. Winker got off to a strong start to the year, but he’s struggled over the last month and is now hitting just .224/.339/.381 with five home runs and five steals. He’s hitting just .143 in 15 games in May and can be dropped in most fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Today, 12:32 pm

  • Optioned to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Roller to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.

Advice: Roller was up in the majors for less than a week and struck out in his lone plate appearance. Joey Wiemer (knee) is back from the injured list to take his roster spot. Rotowire.com Today, 12:24 pm

  • Returns from injured list
The Brewers activated Wiemer (knee) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Wiemer has missed most of May with a left knee strain but is ready to roll after a brief rehab assignment. He will provide outfield depth for the Brewers and could draw the occasional start against left-handers. Rotowire.com Today, 12:22 pm

  • Out against left-hander
Kepler is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Kepler is one of several Twins players involved in a platoon, so he will yield to Manuel Margot in right field with the Nats starting left-hander Mitchell Parker. The left-handed hitting Kepler actually has a 1.050 OPS versus southpaws this season, although that's come over just 20 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 11:53 am

  • Guardians designate Ramón Laureano for assignment
Guardians designated OF Ramón Laureano for assignment.

Advice: Laureano had been starting nearly every day earlier in the season but had recently been relegated to the bench after posting a .143/.265/.229 slash line with a 38.6 percent strikeout rate in 31 games. He posted double-digit home run and stolen base totals in 2021 and 2022 so some team is bound to take another chance on him, but his best fantasy days appear to be behind him. Johnathan Rodriguez was called up from Triple-A to take his place. Rotoworld Today, 11:46 am
