    Athletics placed Paul Blackburn (foot) on 10-day IL retroactive to May 11th.

    Advice: Blackburn has a stress reaction in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. The 30-year-old has a 4.11 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in eight starts while registering 36 strikeouts and 13 walks in 46 innings. There’s no set timeline yet for how long he’ll be out, but his right foot handles all his body weight during his leg lift on his windup, so he’ll need to make sure it’s fully healed before he returns to the mound.     Mata (hamstring) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Monday and struck out two over two innings while allowing one run on three hits and no walks.

    Advice: The 25-year-old Mata has yet to make his big-league debut, but because he has no minor-league options remaining, he'll eventually join the Red Sox once he completes what will likely be a lengthy rehab assignment across multiple affiliates. Mata, who is working his way back from a right hamstring strain, has worked almost exclusively as a starter during his time in the minors, but he'll presumably be in store for a low-leverage, multi-inning role out of the Red Sox bullpen upon his return from the 15-day injured list.   • Starting Tuesday versus Cleveland
    Leiter will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to start Tuesday against the Guardians.

    Advice: Leiter hasn't fared well in either of his first two major-league starts, allowing a total of 11 earned runs with a 6:3 K:BB over 7.2 innings in matchups with the Tigers and Athletics. However, with Nathan Eovaldi (groin), Dane Dunning (shoulder) and Max Scherzer (back) still on the mend, the Rangers will give the rookie right-hander another chance to prove he belongs in the big-league rotation.     Snell (adductor) expects to make another rehab start before rejoining the Giants' rotation, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

    Advice: Snell had a dominant first rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Sunday, throwing an immaculate inning on his way to seven strikeouts across four perfect frames. He touched 97 mph on the radar gun. Snell threw just 46 pitches in the outing but did get in an additional 15 tosses in the bullpen after the appearance. Snell noted that the decision on where he will pitch next will ultimately be made by manager Bob Melvin and the team's medical staff, but the southpaw believes he could use another tune-up against stiffer competition.     Diaz (1-1) secured the win over Alanta on Sunday, tossing a perfect ninth frame while striking out a batter.

Peterson is eligible to come off the injured list May 27, but the Mets rotation is crowded at the moment with prospect Christian Scott now in the majors and Tylor Megill (shoulder) poised to be activated from the 15-day injured list this week.
