    • Getting day off amid slump
Rooker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Rooker will cede designated hitter duties to JJ Bleday and get a breather for the series finale after he had started in each of the Athletics' last 14 games. During that stretch, Rooker slashed just .196/.281/.392 with a 40.4 percent strikeout rate, so the day off could prove beneficial while he's in the midst of a slump at the dish. • Brent Rooker out of the lineup amidst slump
Brent Rooker is not in the Athletics’ lineup on Wednesday against the Padres.

Advice: Rooker is a notoriously streaky hitter, and things have not been going well for him over the last three weeks. The slugger is hitting .212/.316/.394 over his last 18 games with two home runs, eight RBI, and a 39.5 percent strikeout rate. We’ve seen Rooker go through these prolonged slumps in the past due to his low contact rate, so it might be safe to treat him as a streamer in shallower formats and see if you can roster a hitter trending in the right direction. Daz Cameron will start in center field and take Rooker’s place in the lineup on Wednesday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:25 pm

    • Kyle Tucker (shin) won’t be ready Friday
Astros manager Joe Espada said Kyle Tucker won’t return from the IL when first eligible on Friday.

Advice: Espada said Tucker hasn’t been ruled out for the entire weekend, but Friday is off the table. Trey Cabbage has been picking up extra at-bats in place of Tucker, who fouled a ball off his shin last week. Rotoworld Wednesday, 11:20 am

    • Unlikely to return Friday
The Astros announced Wednesday that Tucker (shin) isn't expected to be ready to return from the 10-day injured list Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Tucker is feeling better as he works his way back from a bruised right shin, but he hasn't yet resumed baseball activities and won't be ready for activation when first eligible. The Astros have mostly been using Trey Cabbage in right field against right-handers and Chas McCormick versus lefties since Tucker was shut down with the injury. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:50 am

    • Two hits, steal in loss
Perkins went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Perkins was the only Brewer with multiple hits in the contest. He's surged at the plate with seven multi-hit efforts and five extra-base hits over his last 12 contests, going 16-for-42 (.381) in that span. The outfielder is up to a .259/.330/.389 slash line with seven steals, five home runs, 21 RBI and 33 runs scored through 215 plate appearances, though he also has a 26.5 percent strikeout rate that could ultimately drag down his batting line in the long run. As long as he's hitting, Perkins should see a starting role in center field. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:25 pm

    • Bryan Reynolds triples to break end no-hit bid
Bryan Reynolds went 1-for-3 with a triple in the Pirates’ win over the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Advice: Reynolds broke up a no-hitter in the seventh inning when he hit a leadoff triple off Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas. His hit was just one of three the Pirates tallied on the evening, but it was enough to extend his hitting streak to nine games. Reynolds is now slashing .353/.405/.529 in June with one homer and five RBI. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:25 pm
    • Kyle Tucker (shin) has yet to ramp up activity
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Kyle Tucker (shin) has yet to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Tucker is off crutches, but remains shut down for the moment as he continues to recover from a painful right shin contusion. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar figures to be ready to return soon, but that won’t be until he’s able to resume running again. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:17 pm

    • Cora: Wilyer Abreu (ankle) likely to return soon
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters he feels Wilyer Abreu (ankle) will return much sooner than originally anticipated.

Advice: Cora added that Abreu has already progressed to full baseball activities after landing on the injured list back on June 4 with a sprained ankle. The 24-year-old has been excellent defensively in right field this season and has also posted an .829 OPS with six homers and seven steals in 189 plate appearances. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:16 pm

    • Goes through full workout
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Abreu (ankle) went through a full pregame workout Tuesday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Abreu is making a quick recovery from his right ankle sprain. It's not clear whether he has a chance to be ready for activation Thursday when he's first eligible, but the outfielder is trending in a good direction. Abreu is slashing .272/.344/.485 with six home runs and seven stolen bases this season as Boston's primary right fielder. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:26 pm
