    • Out again Tuesday
Steer (ankle) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Steer was held out of Sunday's game with an ankle injury and is apparently still not feeling well enough to play after Monday's off day. He did serve as a pinch hitter Sunday, suggesting the injury is more of a day-to-day situation. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Collects win in extras
Scott (4-4) earned the win Monday against the Brewers, allowing no hits and one walk in one shutout inning. He struck out one.

Advice: Scott gathered his fourth win by shutting down Milwaukee in the top of the tenth and benefitting from a walk-off Josh Bell single in the bottom of the inning. The Marlins lefty has tossed seven consecutive scoreless outings, notching three wins, one save and one hold with a 9:5 K:BB over 7.1 innings. Despite owning an 8.1 BB/9, Scott sports a 1.80 ERA in 20 innings overall. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:17 pm

    • Will require several rehab outings
Phillips (hamstring) is expected to make 2-to-3 rehab appearances before being activated from the 15-day injured list, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: Stephen estimates that Phillips is about a week away from a return, though how the right-hander fares during his rehab outings will ultimately dictate his exact return date. He's been shut down since May 3 after suffering a right hamstring strain. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:29 pm

    • Evan Phillips to soon begin rehab assignment
Evan Phillips will go on a rehab assignment before returning from the strained hamstring he suffered May 3.

Advice: Phillips will likely make 2-3 appearances in Triple-A. The first of those should come this week, and he should rejoin the Dodgers pen before the end of next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:19 pm

    • Guardians promoting OF Jonathan Rodriguez from AAA
Guardians recalled OF Johnathan Rodriguez from Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: The 24-year-old Rodriguez was off to a strong start in Triple-A, slashing .276/.389/.449 in 43 games with seven home runs, 30 runs, 28 RBI, and four steals. While he still sports a 25 percent strikeout rate, it’s an improvement on the 33 percent rate he posted in Triple-A last year, and Rodriguez is also posting a 16 percent walk rate. He hit 29 home runs across two levels of the minors last year, so he could bring some solid power to the middle of the Guardians’ order. Ramon Laureano was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:43 am
    • Receives first major-league call-up
The Guardians recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: He's taking the roster spot vacated by Ramon Laureano, who was designated for assignment. Rodriguez, 24, has slashed .276/.389/.449 with seven home runs and four stolen bases this season with Columbus. The Guardians have been desperate for production from any outfielder not named Steven Kwan this season, and Kwan is currently out with a hamstring injury, so it's possible Rodriguez will get a long look. He will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 am
    • Draws another start
Brooks is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Rockies in Oakland.

Advice: After having not started in the big leagues since 2019, the 34-year-old Brooks was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas last week and impressed in his move into the Oakland rotation, tossing seven innings of three-run ball while striking out five in a loss to the Mariners. With three Oakland starters currently on the 15-day injured list and four more starting candidates on the 60-day IL, Brooks looks like he'll have a hold on a rotation spot until the Athletics' pitching staff gets healthier. • Has ankle injury
Steer is dealing with a sore ankle, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Steer was held out of the starting lineup Sunday as a result of the ankle but served as a pinch hitter. He walked for Will Benson with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and was removed for a pinch runner. Cincinnati manager David Bell said Steer should be back to 100 percent for Tuesday's series opener at home against the Padres. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:11 am

    • Earns win against former team
Rodon (5-2) earned the win Sunday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Rodon allowed a homer and a triple in the second inning, leading to two runs, but didn't allow another runner to cross the plate through six quality frames against his former club. According to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, Yankees manager Aaron Boone confessed after the game that Rodon was battling a cold all week, and the skipper considered pulling him after five but was impressed with the way he battled back after the shaky second frame. It was the third consecutive quality start and win for Rodon, who will carry a 3.27 ERA into his next start, tentatively slated to take place in San Diego when the Yankees travel to take on the Padres during a three-game weekend set.
