    • Mashes grand slam
Melendez went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Melendez put the Royals on top with a two-out grand slam in the top of the sixth, drawing 12 pitches in the at-bat before jumping on a hanging cutter from Blake Treinen. The 25-year-old also recorded an infield single earlier in the contest, giving him his first multi-hit effort since May 10 against the Angels. Melendez is batting just .152 in June with and Saturday actually marked the first time this month in which he's strung together hits in back-to-back contests. On a positive note, he now has three homers in his last eight games to go along with 10 RBI and four runs scored. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • On bench against righty
Crow-Armstrong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Crow-Armstrong be on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Miles Mikolas) for the second time in the series. After he was called up from Triple-A Iowa on May 30, Crow-Armstrong had settled into a near-everyday role in center field while the Cubs eased Cody Bellinger back from the injured list by deploying him more frequently at designated hitter, first base and right field. Now that Bellinger is further removed from a fractured rib cage and with first baseman Michael Busch also seemingly regaining the confidence of manager Craig Counsell, Crow-Armstrong could find himself as the odd man out of the Chicago lineup. • Grand slam in win
Toglia went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Pirates while also drawing a walk.

Advice: Toglia reached base in each of his first two at-bats, coming around to score Colorado's second run of the game on a Jake Cave double in the fourth. The 25-year-old would then add more insurance runs for the Rockies with a grand slam in the eighth as they ran away with the win at home. Toglia is now batting .300 in June with nine RBI and four runs scored and he's now hit safely in three straight games. Saturday also marked his second two-hit performance of the campaign. • Huge game in return
Cave went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, three RBI and three runs scored Saturday against Pittsburgh.

Advice: Cave was hit in the head during batting practice Friday but returned to the lineup one day later. He participated in Colorado's 16-run offensive outburst in a significant way, and he now has at least one hit in each of his last four starts. Cave entered the lineup with Brenton Doyle (knee) scratched, though he may find consistent playing time hard to come by assuming Doyle doesn't require a stint on the injured list. • Huge day at plate
Goodman went 4-for-5 with two homers, a double, five RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: Goodman got the party started with a 440-foot solo shot off Jared Jones to lead off the bottom of the third and added an RBI double in the following frame. The utility man, who drew the start at catcher on Saturday, would then top off his monster day at the plate by crushing a two-run homer in the seventh and an RBI groundout in the eighth. He finished with season highs in hits (four), RBI (five) and runs scored (three) after coming into the contest on an 0-for-14 skid to open the month of June. It also marked the first two-homer game of Goodman's career. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

    • First homer of June
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday against Atlanta.

Advice: Arozarena went yard in the ninth inning to tally his ninth homer of the season and his first in June. Despite the lack of power, he has managed to hit .263 with a .417 on-base percentage for the month -- both of which are significant improvements over his season-long line. Arozarena is still hitting just .175 for the campaign, though he has also chipped in seven steals. Rotowire.com 59 minutes ago
    • Plays field Saturday
Thomas (hamstring) started in center field and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.

Advice: Thomas played the second game of a rehab assignment and first in the field. He tested the hamstring, moving up a base on two wild pitches before scoring on an infield groundout. Thomas was eventually removed after three plate appearances and five innings. He'll be off Sunday before playing a third game in the ACL on Monday then move to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks are aiming for his return June 25, when the team begins its next home stand. Rotowire.com Today, 5:26 am

    • Goes deep again Saturday
Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Mets.

Advice: Merrill produced the only Padres run with a solo shot to center field in the fifth inning. The rookie has homered in three straight contests, belting four total long balls over that span. Merrill has also notched at least one hit in nine of his past 10 games and is batting .351 (13-for-37) with eight extra-base hits, six RBI, seven runs and two steals during that stretch. • Blasts two homers Saturday
Martinez went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, three total RBI and two walks in Saturday's 5-1 win against the Padres.

Advice: Martinez reached in all five of his plate appearances and registered his first multi-homer game of the season. The veteran slugger has gone deep three times in his past three games and has at least one RBI in six of his past seven contests. Of Martinez's past six hits, five (two doubles and three homers) have gone for extra bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:34 pm
