    • Scores twice Sunday
Pages went 1-for-2 with a walk, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Pages' RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the second inning to open the scoring. The backup catcher has had few chances to make an impact, and he's rarely done so even when in the lineup. He's slashing .091/.241/.136 with no home runs, five RBI, three runs scored and a double over 29 plate appearances this season. Ivan Herrera seems set to hold down a starting job at catcher until Willson Contreras (forearm) returns, at which point Pages is likely ticketed for Triple-A Memphis. • Falls two outs shy of first win
Herz did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over 4.1 innings against Atlanta. He struck out five.

Advice: Herz received a second start after struggling in his debut against the Mets and showed the requisite improvement in holding Atlanta to two runs. After allowing those two runs and four baserunners in the second, Herz settled down and retired six of seven batters over the next two frames. A seven-run fourth by the Nationals put Herz in line for the win but Herz allowed two batters to reach base in the fifth and was pulled two outs shy of being eligible for his first big-league win. With both Josiah Gray and Trevor Williams remaining on the shelf, Herz looks to be in line for another start, likely to take place next weekend when the Nationals welcome the Marlins to town for a weekend set. • Coughs up four runs
Blach (2-4) yielded four runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Cardinals.

Advice: Blach never quite found a groove Sunday, allowing at least one run in the second, third and fourth frames. He's given up eight runs in 10 innings so far this month after ending May with two straight quality starts. The 33-year-old southpaw's ERA has climbed to 4.84 with a 22:8 K:BB through 44.2 innings this season. Blach's next start is projected to be at home against the PIrates. Rotowire.com Today, 7:25 pm

    • Tosses five shutout innings
Pallante (2-2) allowed three hits and a walk over five scoreless frames Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Rockies.

Advice: Pallante never found himself in too much trouble as he cruised to a win Sunday. He fired 45 of 68 pitches for strikes, including 13 whiffs. That matched his total swinging strikes generated over his previous 14 MLB innings entering Sunday's start. Since rejoining the MLB roster, Pallante has gone 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA, though all his earned runs came from one appearance. He's currently slated to make his next start on the road against the Cubs. • Struggles continue in return
Winn (3-7) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Rangers. He struck out seven.

Advice: At least Winn was efficient in needing just 69 pitches while allowing eight baserunners and striking out seven. Otherwise, there wasn't much else good to glean from his start. He allowed five runs in the first two innings, then was pulled in the fifth after allowing a walk and a double with both runners eventually coming in to score to leave him with a final line of seven runs allowed. The other positive is that Winn was able to return to the hill after landing on the IL with the dreaded forearm strain in mid-May. However, it was more of the same as he had allowed 17 runs in three starts spanning 8.1 innings prior to landing on the injured list. If Winn is able to maintain his spot in the rotation, his next start is tentatively slated to take place next weekend when the Giants host the Angels. Rotowire.com Today, 6:57 pm

    • Cut loose by Miami
The Marlins released Garcia on Sunday.

Advice: As expected, the Marlins will absorb all the money remaining on the four-year, $53 million deal Garcia signed in November 2021 after no other team was willing to put in a waiver claim for the 32-year-old outfielder, who was cut by Miami last week. Now that he's a free agent, Garcia could attract some interest on a low-cost, one-year deal, but he may not have a clear path to an everyday role no matter where he lands. While operating in a reserve role with the Marlins for most of the season, Garcia slashed .240/.255/.380 over 51 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:00 pm

    • Promoted to Indianapolis
Ashcraft was promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Ashcraft has pitched very well with Double-A Altoona to begin the 2024 season, maintaining a 3.69 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with an excellent 63:8 K:BB across 53.2 innings. He's already on the 40-man roster, so if he continues to have the same level of success with Indianapolis, Ashcraft could be in line for his big-league debut at some point this summer. • Marlins release veteran outfielder Avisail Garcia
      Marlins released OF Avisail Garcia.

Advice: The 32-year-old outfielder was designated for assignment earlier in the week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The Marlins are still on the hook for close to $25 million for Garcia and any team that want to pick him up will only be responsible for the league-minimum salary. Garcia hit .240/.255/.380 with two homers, two RBI and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 51 plate appearances with the Marlins this season. Rotoworld Today, 5:25 pm

    • Tommy Henry picks up victory against Padres
Tommy Henry picked up his second victory of the season on Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits over 2 1/3 innings of work against the Padres.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw also issued a pair of walks while striking out one in the ballgame. He benefited from the Diamondbacks’ offensive onslaught in this one — including a six-run uprising in the second inning. It’s likely that Henry and his 5.58 ERA will head back to Triple-A Reno following this game so that they can add another fresh arm to their depleted bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 5:21 pm
