• IL stint not expected
Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Seager (hamstring) is not expected to require a stint on the injured list, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Seager injured his hamstring Wednesday and sat out Friday's game after Thursday's off-day. Bochy doesn't anticipate an IL stint, but Seager might need a couple of days to get back to the field. Rotowire.com Today, 6:25 am

  • Pops sixth homer
Swanson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Reds.

Advice: The shortstop took Nick Lodolo deep in the sixth inning, but the Cubs were already in a 3-0 hole at that point. Swanson is beginning to show faint signs of life at the plate -- while he's batting just .233 (7-for-30) over the last eight games, four of those hits have gone for extra bases, including two of his six homers on the year. His 1:10 BB:K over that stretch remains an eyesore however, and his .628 OPS and 28.5 percent strikeout rate on the season would both be career worsts. Rotowire.com Today, 6:21 am

  • Starts at third base
Duran started at third base and went 2-for-3 an RBI in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Duran entered the lineup with Corey Seager (hamstring) on the bench. Josh Smith, the primary fill-in for Josh Jung (wrist) at third base, moved to shortstop, paving the way for Duran to make his eighth start of the season at the hot corner. He's hit safely in four consecutive games and 11 of the last 13. Seager's injury is not considered serious, but he could need a couple more days, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. • Could deploy at 3B
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo is considering giving Alexander more looks at third base, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Advice: With Geraldo Perdomo (knee) due back in the coming days, Lovullo is evaluating potential roster decisions to accommodate his return. Perdomo's pending return puts a focus on Alexander and Kevin Newman. Alexander, who made four appearances (two starts) at third base over the last 13 games, went 10-for-21 over a five-game hitting streak that ended Friday. At some point, the Diamondbacks may look for options to spell starting third baseman Eugenio Suarez, whose average dropped to .198 and is 2-for-23 over the last seven games. • Ryan Bliss collects first MLB homer in loss to KC
Ryan Bliss hit a two-run homer in a loss to the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Bliss absolutely clobbered a Daniel Lynch IV offering to left field in the first inning to give Seattle a 7-0 lead and Bliss his first ever MLB homer. The 24-year-old has hit just .188 thus far in the majors, but his .350 on-base percentage does show that he has been more than willing to reach via walk. There is some potential long-term fantasy upside in his right-handed bat. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:09 pm

  • Corey Seager (hamstring) unavailable Friday
Corey Seager will not be available off the bench Friday after leaving Wednesday’s game with a hamstring strain.

Advice: Seager has avoided the IL for now and is considered day-to-day. The Rangers have Josh Smith at shortstop and Ezequiel Duran at third base tonight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:33 pm

  • Nico Hoerner out of lineup due to hand injury
Cubs manager Craig Counsell now says X-rays last night on Nico Hoerner’s hand came back “somewhat inconclusive,” and the second baseman is not playing in Friday’s game.

Advice: It was originally reported that the X-rays came back negative after Hoerner was hit on the right hand by a pitch. Hoerner, though, had some trouble gripping the bat and swinging today. Hopefully, this is still just a day-to-day thing. There is the potential for some bad news, though. David Bote is starting at second base tonight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:26 pm

  • Sitting out after HBP
Hoerner is not in Friday's lineup in Cincinnati after being hit on the hand by a pitch during Thursday's win over the White Sox, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Hoerner was struck by a pitch in the fourth inning Thursday but finished the game. He underwent a precautionary X-ray afterward, which evidently came back clean. However, he could be dealing with some residual soreness. David Bote will handle second base Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:22 pm

  • Not starting Friday
Seager (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Advice: The hamstring injury that caused Seager's departure from Wednesday's matchup with the Tigers is considered minor, but he'll still be out of the starting nine for at least one game. The 30-year-old is still on Texas' lineup card as a bench player, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, and he isn't expected to require a trip to the injured list. Josh Smith will shift to shortstop while Ezequiel Duran receives a start at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:59 pm
