• Six scoreless in no-decision
Gomber allowed four hits and two walks over six scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Saturday. He struck out three.

Advice: Gomber matched zeros with rookie phenom Jared Jones through six in a game that wasn't decided until the bottom of the ninth when Jack Suwinski broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single. Gomber was far less dominant than Jones from a swing-and-miss standpoint with eight whiffs to Jones' 17. Still, it was a quality start, Gomber's second in seven turns this season. He lines up for a tough home start against the Rangers his next time out and should still be handled with extreme caution despite his quality surface stats to date (3.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). • Drives in four Saturday
Bleday went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Bleday was one of several Athletics hitters to put on a lights-out performance in the 20-4 rout, continuing a recent trend of improved play at the expense of the organization that drafted him in the first round of the First-Year Player Draft in 2019. Bleday has now left the yard on three occasions in the last four games, and the three-hit day tied a season best. Bleday also coaxed his OPS to an improving .775 with the prolific afternoon, and he's now laced 13 of his 28 hits on the campaign for extra bases. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

  • Can't escape first inning
Winn (3-4) took the loss Saturday in Philadelphia, allowing five runs on four hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch over just two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: In fairness to Winn, the weather in Philadelphia for this one was nasty and the right-hander never seemed comfortable. Of course, Ranger Suarez pitched in the same conditions and posted a quality start. Still, Winn had been on a roll prior to this one, yielding exactly one run over six innings in each of his last three starts, so this could be just a little bump in the road. His next outing, unfortunately, is tentatively lined up to come at Coors Field. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

  • Homers twice in third inning
Rooker went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in Saturday's 20-4 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Rooker became the first Athletics player to homer twice in the same inning since Mark McGwire did it in September of 1996. He did it during Oakland's 10-run third inning Saturday, taking starter Trevor Rogers deep with a two-run shot and then reliever Darren McCaughan over the boards with a three-run blast. He also added a single and a walk. Rooker is up to eight home runs on the season even after going on the injured list last month. Of course, he's also hitting just .240 and striking out at a 36.5 percent rate, but fantasy managers knew what they were getting into with Rooker and should be satisfied with the returns 22 games in. • Nathaniel Lowe posts four hits, two RBI in blowout
Nathaniel Lowe went 4-for-6 with a pair of RBI on Saturday, powering the Rangers to a lopsided 15-4 victory over the Royals.

Advice: Lowe exploded for a season-high four hits as the Rangers’ talented offensive core racked up a staggering 17 hits in this one. The 28-year-old first baseman kick-started an eventual blowout with a two-run single in the fourth inning off Royals starter Michael Wacha. The four-hit effort raises his batting average from .286 to .333 through 13 contests since missing the first few weeks of the season due to an oblique injury. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Brilliant in no-decision
Jones did not factor into the decision in Saturday's win against the Rockies. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 10 over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: The 22-year-old right-hander bounced back from a rather modest showing his last time out, matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. Jones got 17 swings and misses on 96 pitches and touched 100 mph with his heater a couple times. While he has a losing record at 2-3, Jones is off to a historically great start to his career. He became the first pitcher in Pirates history with an outing consisting of seven shutout innings, one hit or fewer allowed, 10 strikeout and zero walks Saturday, and per MLB's Sarah Langs, Jones is the first pitcher since at least 1901 with 50-plus strikeouts and five or fewer walks in his first seven career starts. • Yennier Cano gets two-out save Saturday vs. Reds
Yennier Cano notched a two-out save on Saturday against the Reds.

Advice: Cano got the call to record the final two outs of Saturday’s low-scoring win at Great American Ball Park after veteran Craig Kimbrel gave up a one-out RBI single to Spencer Steer that put the potential tying run at third base. Cano wound up walking Tyler Stephenson before striking out Christian Encarnacion-Strand and getting Jeimer Candelario to fly out to end the contest. It’s clear that Kimbrel isn’t in a good place right now, and could still be battling a lingering back issue, which opens the door for Cano to keep picking up save chances moving forward. • Makes first rehab start
Alexander (ribs) started Single-A Stockton's loss to Visalia on Friday, allowing an earned run on two hits over one inning. He struck out one.

Advice: Alexander pitched to some contact, but he located 12 of his 16 pitches for strikes and came away from his first game action in nearly two months feeling good, per MLB.com. The veteran right-hander is due for another rehab appearance with the Ports on Tuesday against San Jose, and if he remains free of setbacks, his rehab assignment will move to Triple-A Las Vegas.
