    • Swats early home run
Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Sunday's 9-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Cronenworth opened up the scoring with a two-run blast off Bryce Elder in the opening frame for his only hit of the night. Cronenworth owns a 140 wRC+, which is currently third in baseball among all qualified first basemen, behind only Freddie Freeman and Bryce Harper. Cronenworth is putting together an excellent campaign and is currently slashing .275/.344/.485 with eight homers, 30 RBI, 21 runs and a 17:33 BB:K in 192 plate appearances. • Jake Cronenworth goes deep in victory over Braves
Jake Cronenworth smashed a two-run homer on Sunday night, helping to propel the Padres to a lopsided victory over the Braves.

Advice: Cronenworth victimized Braves’ starter Bryce Elder in the opening inning with his two-out, 392-foot (101.3 mph EV) two-run blast that gave the Padres the early lead. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night. On the season, the versatile 30-year-old is now hitting .275/.344/.485 with eight long balls and 30 RBI. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:05 pm

    • Report: Mets offered Pete Alonso $158M extension
The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports the Mets offered first baseman Pete Alonso a seven-year, $158 million contract extension last summer.

Advice: Sherman adds that “the sides never got close to a deal.” The 29-year-old impending free agent could still wind up back in New York, but at this point it sounds like he’s going to test the free agent waters to see what other offers might be out there. • Tallies three hits
Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Friday's win over Atlanta.

Advice: Cronenworth knocked three singles to collect his fourth three-hit performance of 2024. After beginning the campaign hitting .263 (30-for-114) through April 30, the Padres first baseman has kicked into a higher gear in May, starting the month by hitting .302 (16-for-53). Overall, Cronenworth is slashing .275/.342/.473 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 190 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:14 pm

    • Swats solo homer
Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Phillies in extra innings.

Advice: Alonso tagged Taijuan Walker (foot) for a solo shot in the first inning, putting the first baseman at 10 homers this season. He's now tied for the fourth-most home runs in the NL and owns a .772 OPS with 23 RBI and 27 runs through 164 at-bats. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:48 pm

    • Alonso goes deep Thursday
Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo home run against the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: The homer was Alonso’s 10th of the season. He’s probably having his worst season of his career so far. Still, Alonso is one of the most reliable players in fantasy baseball and we’ll almost certainly still be looking at close to 40 home runs and 100 RBI from him at the end of the season.

    • Pete Alonso hitting 2nd for Mets
Pete Alonso will hit second for the Mets on Thursday against the Phillies

Advice: This is the second straight start for Alonso in the second spot in the order, while Starling Marte moves down the sixth. Carlos Mendoza is clearly trying to jumpstart this Mets offense, and he was with the Yankees as a coach when they hit Aaron Judge second in the lineup, so perhaps he’s trying to recapture some of that magic. Alonso has just a .306 on-base percentage this year, which is the lowest of his career and his RBI opportunities will take a hit with the move out of the cleanup spot, so it’s unclear if this is a great decision. However, the big first baseman needs improve on his .756 OPS before we can worry about the impact of his spot in the lineup. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:06 pm

    • Goes back-to-back in first inning
Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Cronenworth got things started for the Padres by going back-to-back with Fernando Tatis off Walker Buehler in the opening inning. He went hitless the rest of the afternoon but continues to be one of the Padres' best bats. He had a 12-game hit streak that came to an end Friday and has been showing increased power early on. His .503 slug percentage is fourth among all first basemen and is a significant personal improvement after averaging a .384 slugging over his last two seasons. For the year, Cronenworth is now slashing .285/.349/.503 with seven homers, 27 RBI, 20 runs and a 14:27 BB:K in 169 plate appearances. Rotowire.com May 12, 8:50 pm

    • Pete Alonso drives in two runs in win over Braves
Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday night as the Mets rallied to beat the Braves.

Advice: Alonso got the Mets on the board with a run-scoring single off of Bryce Elder in the third inning. He then plated their other run with an RBI double off of Elder in the sixth inning that tied the game at 2-2. The 29-year-old slugger’s bat has started to pick up a bit, but he’s still hitting a disappointing .223/.305/.453 with nine homers, 22 RBI and one stolen base on the season. Rotoworld May 12, 7:14 pm
