    • Allows four runs in loss
      Stone (4-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings.

      Advice: Stone reached at least six innings for a fifth consecutive outing but just missed out on a quality start this time around. The Diamondbacks scratched out a pair of runs on him in the second and another in the fifth before Christian Walker crushed a solo home run in the sixth to make it a 4-1 ballgame. Tuesday was Stone's first time giving up more than a run since April 20 and his first loss since April 7. He now owns a 3.60 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 34:17 K:BB in 50 innings and lines up for a road start against the Mets next week. Rotowire.com Today, 6:07 am
       
    • Gavin Stone charged with four runs in loss
      Gavin Stone lost to the Diamondbacks after allowing four runs in six innings on Tuesday.

      Advice: Stone came up a little short of delivering a fifth straight quality start and took his first loss since April 7. He gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out five in falling to 4-2 with a 3.60 ERA.       Pepiot (lower leg) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

      Advice: The 26-year-old righty landed on the shelf with a bruised lower left leg after his May 5 start versus the Mets, but he'll return Wednesday after being sidelined for the 15-day minimum.       Ryan Pepiot (leg) will start on Wednesday against the Red Sox.

      Advice: Pepiot will be activated to take the ball on Wednesday against Boston after landing on the injured list earlier this month with a leg bruise after being hit by a 107.5 mph comebacker.     • Turns in quality start
      Gilbert allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out one during the win over the Yankees.

      Advice: Gilbert coughed up two runs in the first inning but was still able to settle in for a quality start. He produced a stellar 1.69 ERA through his first seven starts but has seen that climb to 3.20 after allowing 14 runs over his last 16.2 frames. On the bright side, two of those outings were quality starts. Gilbert recorded only one strikeout with five whiffs, with both setting new season lows.       Holmes (1-1) allowed four runs on four hits and two walks while taking a loss against the Mariners on Monday. He blew a save chance and recorded only two outs.

      Advice: Holmes entered Monday with zero earned runs allowed through 20 innings this season. Seattle chipped away at him with singles and walks to plate four runs and take the lead in the ninth inning. Holmes' ERA jumped to 1.74 as he was handed his first loss of the year.       Houck (4-5) yielded two hits and a walk over seven shutout frames Monday, striking out five and earning a win over Tampa Bay.

      Advice: Houck was terrific Monday and didn't let any baserunners reach scoring position. It was his fourth scoreless start of the year, dropping his season ERA to 1.94 through 65 frames. Houck entered Monday's start on a four-game losing streak over his previous five starts. However, he registered an impressive 2.87 ERA during that span.     • Holmes blows second save Monday
      Clay Holmes blew his second save of the season against the Mariners on Monday.



      Advice: Holmes hadn’t allowed an earned run all season. He entered with a 4-1 lead against the Mariners. After a Josh Rojas ground to begin the ninth inning, the floodgates opened. Julio Rodriguez hit an infield single. Cal Raleigh walked. Luke Raley hit an infield single and Gleyber Torres threw the ball into the Yankees dugout to make it 4-2. Mitch Haniger singled to center to make it 4-3. Dylan Moore walked. Dominic Canzone hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and Ty France singled on a ground ball to give the Mariners the lead. In all, Holmes allowed four earned runs and only recorded two outs without allowing any hard contact. His ERA is up to 1.74 on the season.

    • Gilbert gets quality start and no-decision Monday
      Logan Gilbert allowed three runs in six innings and got a no-decision against the Yankees on Monday.



      Advice: Gilbert recorded only one strikeout and allowed eight hits and a walk. He battled in a tough matchup against the Yankees on the road. This was his lowest strikeout total of the season by far, but otherwise Gilbert has been fairly consistent. He’s had eight quality starts in 10 tries this season. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Nationals on the road on Saturday.
